Don't go All inclusive. There are many good restaurants in Cancun.

Look into:

Marriott

JW Marriott

Royal Sands

Westin Lagunamar

Fiesta Americana Coral Beach

CP deco is bit outdated. The beach outside is very rough and unseimmable.

I am not sure why the Cancun Palace has dropped so much. It was a top 10 resort last year. It is going to become a Hard Rock resort and I bet the transition has caused it to slide a bit. The best food places I have read about are not good kid places. I think your best bet is going to be one of the Palace Resorts because their food is pretty good and they provide good activities for kids.

I am a fan of Moon Palace. Nice rooms, great staff. Great activities for kids. Great pools. There is a beach, but it is not as nice as the beach in Cancun. There are nice areas on the beach for volleyball and plenty of sand for the kids to play in, but seaweed is often a problem. There are so many restaurants to choose from, if you don't like the food at one, just go to another. Most restaurants will prepare what you request if you ask.
