What to wear?

We'll be in Mexico next weekend and are trying to pack now. It seems that there is a big difference between the highs and lows each day, so I'm assuming that layers are the way to go. I've read that Mexico City is more formal than other cities. Does this mean that we shouldn't wear jeans and sneakers when walking around? Do most restaurants have dress codes?

We'll also spend a day at Teotihuacan. Is it still hot there this time of year?

We're trying to pack as light as we can, but it seems like we're going to need both warm and cold clothes here.

Thanks for all of your help, it's much appreciated!

1. Re: What to wear?

Not too many years ago any women in Slacks would be looked on in askance. This is no longer true with lots & lots of gals in slacks, jeans ECT.

It will still mark you as a tourist any man in any inland Mexico city in shorts.

Check the weather but it should be decent. Mornings/evenings can be cool so a wrap is good.

2. Re: What to wear?

This weekend has been very cold (near freezing in some parts of central Mexico) so you will need sweaters and warm jackets for the evenings. Daytime it can get warm and you will be fine in short-sleeves. Always difficult to predict though! Jeans are fine for Mexico City, restaurants aren't strict on dress code unless you go somewhere incredibly expensive.
