Friends arriving in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 -Taxi Query

I would like to ask if taxi drivers who are hired out of the taxi office in Mexico City International Airport Terminal 2 would agree to pick up a passenger in Terminal 1 before proceeding to destination hotel. Thank you in advance for information.

Probably not, because they earn their wages by driving you to a specific 'zone' (destination) and that would not include additional wait time at the other terminal.

Generally speaking, because of flight delays, changes, weather, etc; if arriving on different flights/times it is just better to plan on meeting up at the hotel / resort and have each person make their own way to the hotel / resort. It certainly isn't any fun for the one arriving first to have to sit around waiting on the person who is arriving later or on a delayed flight, when they could be relaxing by the pool or enjoying a nice cold drink in the bar!

A regular authorized airport taxi that has fixed rates to various zones in the city will not do this.

Uber likely will, but it will change the quoted fare you are charged when you hailed the ride.

The free train that connects the two terminals are only for ticketed passengers. You must show a boarding pass or confirmed itinerary shoeing that guy have a flight going out if the other terminal to board.

I have not used Uber. After getting a quote for a Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 ride, do we then just ask the driver to add the Terminal 1 to the hotel quote? or should we input a Terminal 2 to hotel quote and ask the driver to add the Terminal to Terminal fare?

I understand your point. We did arrange to arrive within minutes of each other but I guess, there could be delays. I have read of a shuttle bus that is available. Do you know anything about it?

sanjuankid,

You are 'scheduled' to arrive into MEX within 5 minutes of each other......... *IF* the two flights are on-time, no aircraft delays (on the previous flights for each aircraft that day), no crew delays, no weather delays, and no mechanical delays, etc. Way too many 'what ifs' for me.

I would suggest one of you just sit tight at your terminal in a predetermined location and the other (more adventurous) traveler *try* to take the inter-terminal train between T1 and T2. Feign ignorance and feign not speaking Spanish may work...... just keep trying to imply meeting someone at the other terminal...... and see if they will let the adventurous traveler board the inter-terminal train. Then try to meet up at the predetermined location in the other terminal. Good luck.

Personally I would try to meet up in T1, and then the 2 of you can take the Metro to whichever colonia in the city where you are staying for $5 Mxn pesos each. The Metro station is about 300m beyond Puerta 1 (Exit 1) as you walk along the curing sidewalk.
