BJX to Leon first, or Guanajuato

Hello:

We are a couple retirees planning a trip to Mexico, where we will fly into BJX, and fly out from Mexico City.

We plan to visit Leon, Guanajuato, Santiago de Queretaro, and Mexico City (not necessary in that order). We have only been to Mexico City before. We are unfamiliar with the other three cities.

My question is, when we arrive at BJX in the morning, should we go first to Leon, or should we go to Guanajuato instead? Which is the more logical choice? Or does it make no difference?

After covering both Leon and Guanajuato, we will go to Queretaro. Is it equally easy to reach Querataro by bus from either Leon or Guanajuato?

Thanks for your help.

I'm certainly no expert on the area, but unless you actually need to visit Leon you might want to reconsider. Or I can put it another way. Go to Guanajuato first then decide whether you want to visit Leon. You may be so fascinated by Guanajuato that you may forgo Leon. I'm certain that it won't be the other way around.

Sorry, I can't answer the second question, about a bus to Queratero.

BjX is located closest to Silao, it's sort of in-between Leon and Guanajuato. It might be slightly closer to Leon. Which you go to makes no difference -- it is your preference.

Leon, Guanajuato, Queretaro are all easily reachable from each other by bus. Primera Plus is one of the companies that covers this route. For timetables, search their site at:

Thanks. BTW, is it easy to go from Queretaro to San Miguel for a one day side trip?

How much time do you have? I usually like to overnite as you miss out on so much with a day trip - you miss the lovely relaxed dinner and café and street life which is great all over.

We have 11 days/nights. We are thinking about 3 nights in Guanajuato, 1 night in Leon, 5 nights in Queretaro, and 2 nights in Mexico City.

Puzzled why you added Leon and skipped San Miguel for a night or two.

Skip Leon. Very Industrial. Nothing to see. Don't miss San Miguel
