It's kinda a thing with me

I don't like to share the mouth pieces

I would go to Wal-Mart Canadian tire or bass pro

Easy to pack

But yes you can't rent....barf just my thoughts

Jody, I share your thoughts. However considering all the sewage that flows into that bay and Las Gatas being a part of it, at the end of the day it is really silly getting hung up about who's mouth piece you put in your mouth before rinsing it in that bay water. Time for another upchuck!

You can also buy (cheap) snorkel sets here- then maybe give it to a kid before you leave. Just another option.

I always bring my own mask and dry snorkel from home. I don't bother with fins, I don't need them personally but that depends on the person. I don't like how much room they take up and lugging them around, so I don't bother.

Costco also has sets, US Diver brand or similar- not the best quality but ok if you aren't a harcore diver or snorkeler. I buy mine online from www.leisurepro.com -good quality and less than local dive shops would charge for the same gear.

I recently ordered one of those full face masks from Amazon and tried it out on a recent Huatulco trip. I personally hated it, I found it fogged up really easily and I couldn't breathe comfortably. Plus I dive so it's really useless to me anyway- I gave it to a girlfriend for her trip to Cuba this week, lol.

We bring out own masks, snorkels and inflatable vests and just rent the fins. But yes there are several places on Las Gatas where you can rent it all.

Hi,

Yes, when I went, we were hooked up with an "Ismael", who took care of us all day. (Ixtapa Island)

He provided snorkeling gear, and anything else we needed!

Snorkeling is pretty good there, visibility was awesome.

You'll have a blast!!

LOL, y'all bring up a good point, I just hate having to pack more than the minimum!

Maybe bring some sort of sterilization product? Alcohol?
