Tiendas on Playa La Ropa

Coming to Zihuatanejo for the first time over the holidays. I was wondering if there are any little corner store tiendas on La Ropa? Ones where we can buy the basics: milk coffee, beer, tequila, eggs, tortillas?

Villas Las Azucena' has a small store basics only plus booze. Small store attached to Elvira's further down the same street. Street is identified by the dolphin statues at the head of the street.

You best stop for groceries is Comercial Mexicana or Bodega....or the market in centro. Comercial is the most popular with foreigners- one stop for everything you could possibly want.

To actually answer the OP's question, there are two at the Villa Mexicana end near the beach, one across the street from the Dolphins Statue and two at the far end of La Ropa to get your daily needs.

The two stores at the south end of La Ropa have the best prices by far but selections run more towards chips and similar packaged snack food. They do have cold beer and a limited selection of liquour and almost always a Chilean red wine. They sometimes have sandwiches and fruit and buns but these things sell quickly and more so at holiday times. They also have a selection of simple health products if you forgot something.

Milk - probably in tetra packs

Coffee - probably not

Beer and Tequila - yes

Eggs - by the each , most likely

Tortillas - I think most locals would have a better source, so most likely not

One year we were in a simple hotel room with a small cooler and the stores were happy to sell me a half a bag of ice as I had no way to use the other half.

The Chilean red wine was 90 or 100 pesos at the Mega and reasonably marked up at the two south end stores for 130 pesos and exactly doubled at one of the stores down by the Villa Mexicana at 260 pesos as an example of values. The selections in general are as described and more likely to be sold out at holidays But the number of useful food vendors on the beach itself will also expand with some baked goods and fresh prepared fruit cups and fresh cheese in the afternoons.. At busy times there will also be a coconut truck with fresh coconut water and tender flesh sold in baggies and some mobile vendors of tamales and ceviche and pescadillas near the stores. You won't go hungry but the little stores are limited for sure.
