Upgrades by Cruise Boat Terminal

The decrepit buildings below street level between the Cruise Boat terminal and 100% Natural were removed today. It appears that the promises made by the operators of the port to the cruise ship operators to improve that area to make it more appealing to the tourists that arrive by water are being acted upon.

Thanks for the update Mike. We saw the bulldozers there at 8:00 this am but it was hard to tell what they were planning. We were so hoping that they were going to finally finish what they started a few years ago! They had removed most of those decrepit low lying structures a few years ago but left a few, directly across from the Harbour Masters building......we are so grateful to hear they are gone, that's what we were hoping for this am!!!

We noticed there is a new temporary fence upat the waterfront across from Sanborns by the Zocalo, so we are hoping they are also removing those vacant store fronts that use to service the cruise ships. In their day those little kiosks were so nice, selling very pretty souvenirs. But for years now it has been vacant, will be nice to see it all cleaned up and a beautiful parkland in its place.

The statute was removed by the government on Wednesday. It appears the squatters have constructed a plywood structure at the east end.

The new fence on the west end is chain link fencing embedded in concrete. It appears to be permanent. I did notice that they started to plant some form of climbing plant at the bottom of the fence.

Every little update makes me feel so much better about that area!

I've been watching it for years. It really needed this!

The demo is moving east, almost to the plywood squatter area now. (maybe half way to the 100% Natural)

Thankfully, the plywood is being dismantled today so that section looks to be next.

Here are new photos of the beautification progress.

Seeing the cheap reconstruction of the informal seafood shacks, it would appear that they have permission to stay.

Yes we were very surprised that they were allowed to stay. All the rest if the area is cleaned up nicely and it appears they are laying a bed of rocks at the waters edge.
