Nevis in January

Should we be thinking about pre booking a hire car? We're staying at hermitage inn and not noted for walking everywhere! I'm not planning on marathon trips but not sure how easy it will be to get around to make the most of our holiday. Advice would be appreciated.

Yes, you'll need a rental car if you want to leave Hermitage property - there's really nothing within walking distance of the Inn. January is High Season on Nevis and while there are quite a few car rental companies on the island sometimes rental cars are fully booked (especially if by January you mean you'll be there around New Years or if there is a major "corporate junket" staying at the Four Seasons the same time you are on island). Just contact the staff at Hermitage and let them know you'll be needing a rental car. They will make all the arrangements for you.

Local buses could certainly take you around the island as well. It just depends on how much time you want to spend waiting for buses. There is no particular schedule, they are frequent between 7-10am in the morning and then in the afternoon between 3-6 and on and off throughout the day.

Good luck and enjoy your stay.
