Bus to Governor's Sound

We are hoping to visit Cayman in the near future on a cruise out of Tampa. We used to live in the Governor's Sound area and wonder if there is a bus from Georgetown that stops in that area ? Would love to visit "for old time's sake".

You can just google the bus routes to see exactly what streets they go on. Its probably the easiest way to see if they come close to your old area. Good luck

If by "Governor's Sound" you mean the Mitchell's Creek / "Governor's Harbour" area:

Take the Public Bus to the "Seven Mile Beach" Public Beach and get off at the proper bus stop on the main road. If you look to the east, beyond the new round-about on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, you will see the remnants of the old "Governor's Harbour" round-about that was part of the original development. The original street names of the various Quays are still in use. Hopefully from there you will be able to get your bearings and see the neighbourhood streets from the sidewalk on the highway.

If you had it in mind to walk INTO the neighbourhood from the main road area, it would be advisable to first get in touch with someone you know who is still living in that area so that you will have an invitation and a definite destination. If you just go wandering in on a sightseeing walk, the neighbours might very well get suspicious about an unfamiliar person scoping out the neighbourhood because that isn't something that's usually taking place in that zone, and the law enforcement authorities might show up and challenge you with some interesting questions! So I wouldn't recommend just ambling along up and down those streets that comprise a quiet, neighbourly residential-family community, not really a "touristic" area although it is just across the street from the SMB "beach strip".

In other words ... Due to the modern realities the residents of the area would likely be vary wary of an unfamiliar individual showing up on the streets right in front of their homes (i.e. this is a delightful area but it really is not for tourist strolling like you might have done in the "Garden District" of New Orleans for example). I hope that's all helpful for you.
