Snorkeling at Peter Island

Can anyone compare snorkeling off the beach at PI with Caneel Bay, Little Dix, other good places in the Virgins?

Just returned from sailing the BVI then a few nights at Peter Island. The snorkeling at PI was good, but not nearly as good as all the other places we went. Virgin Gorda definitely has the better snorkeling (Baths, White Bay, Savannah Bay, Fallen Jerusalem). We also did the Indians, the Caves, Cooper Island, Norman Island, and the Rhone. Peter Island is wonderful and the snorkeling good, but we were a bit disappointed in the snorkeling after seeing all we had before we arrived there.

Several years ago, we went on a private sailing cruise (on the Endless Summer II) through the BVI and made all those snorkeling stops mentioned in the previous post -- and they were all sensational. But for the past two summers, we've stayed at Peter Island and also enjoyed the snorkeling there (the best spot is right off Deadman's, in front of the Beachfront rooms). We also went on the Thursday PI snorkeling trip out to Cooper Island and the Baths (this trip is included in several of the packages they offer). So, all-in-all, you get the best of both worlds at PI in terms of snorkeling: good snorkeling right off their island, and great snorkeling on their Thursday trip. You can also charter the Simaril and go to virtually any location you'd like in the BVI on any day it's available.
