Beach chairs and umbrella costs

Has anyone recently rented chairs and umbrella at the Great Bay Beach (if so how much are they) and are there restrooms there?

Do they accept U.S. Dollars?

I am going in March 2017 so if anyone rented in March that would be helpful.

How far is it to walk from the Holland America cruise terminals?

Our experience has been been that the most you will have to pay is $20 for two chairs and an umbrella. Talk a walk along the Boardwalk first and look at the signs as there are usually deals for 2 chairs, an umbrella, free wi-fi , a complimentary drink and use of washrooms. So choose the best deal for what works for you.

It's about a 1 mile walk from the ship to the beach.

Are you dead set on staying in Philipsburg? You could consider going to a beach like Orient or Grand Case instead.

My husband and I rented chairs at Great Bay for the better part of a morning. We went through Holland House Hotel. It is $20 for 2 chairs, a big umbrella, 4 beverages (beer or soda), WiFi, showers and very clean restrooms. Google Holland House SXM and you can see the spot of beach on their webcam.

The beach was not our favorite on the island but it was quite nice. The main reason (aside from people watching) we enjoyed it, was that it allowed us to have a "base" at the beach and take turns shopping. Neither of us are huge shoppers...but we did want some things. One of us remained at the chairs at all times and when we felt like it, the other one could stroll a few shops and come back. We were never hauling around all of our purchases, and we had the option of hopping in the ocean whenever we wanted.

Normally the "venue" that as the property in front of the beach, is who is authorized to have beach chairs in from of their place.
