beaches in the northern resorts compared to southern resorts

hi,

im thinking my next holiday will be to st lucia just because of the diversity of the place. i have noticed that there are two main aread for resorts i.e. northwest and southwest. is there any difference in the quality of the beaches and the quality of the snorkelling in both areas?

thanks

You'll find SLU's best snorkeling on the West Coast in the Soufriere area. Anse Chastenet is considered one of the island's best beaches. Caribbean Travel & Life Magazine has a great beach guide of SLU in the current issue. The white sand of Jalousie is imported but who cares, there's spectacular snorkeling from the marine preserve there. Anse Cochon is also on the West Coast with great snorkeling. There's no real snorkeling to speak of from Reduit or Windjammer's.

For good snorkeling you want AC (or Jade Mountain which is owned by the same people so they shuttle you down to the AC beach; Jalousie Plantation (slated to close for renovations in the spring or summer of '09) or Ti Kaye Village.

Don't know about the snokelling but do know from personal experience that Reduit beach at Rodney Bay is beautiful with almost white sand and crystal clear water.

Reduit Beach is lovely but there is not much snorkelling there compared to the south of the island.
