A few questions about Punta Cana

Hi all

Myself and my wife to be are travelling to PC for the first time in August from Ireland.

We are aged 29 & 32. We are staying in Secrets Cap Cana for 10 nights.

We are planning on doing a number of day trips? what are the best ones?

We enjoy wildlife and cultural activities. We also enjoy nights out.

Is there a strip as such in PC where tourists can walk around and have drinks and food or is it all resort based?

Is there much to do at Cap Cana marina?

How much would a taxi be from PC back to Secrets Cap cana if we did go for a night out?

Is there a hotel bus service?

Sorry for all of the questions. Thanks in advance.

To me, there is no better day trip that going to Samana.

I believe there's a tour where you drive a little bit and then take a catamaran across the bay.

Samana is GORGEOUS and totally different from Punta Cana.

You can walk around the Marina and there are a few restos there but SCC is pretty isolated overall.

No there isn’t anywhere like a strip or a centre with lots of bars and restaurants. Most things in Punta Cana are resort based. There are a couple of small areas like el corticito but this is quite a way from where you’re staying.

I went to Secrets Cap Cana in Feb. There's no hotel shuttle service, but you can participate in the Sip, Savor, and See program where you can have dinner and a night out at a nearby/participating AM resorts for no extra charge secretsresorts.com/en_us/…

I thought I was going to go to Secrets Royal Beach for a night or two, but I didn't have any desire to leave SCC. They do a great job of entertainment there. I thought I was going to be very bored at night, but I wasn't. This is coming from someone with a very short attention span, lol.

You have to pay for your own transportation to get to the other resorts. It's most likely cheaper to use the transportation companies mentioned on this forum than using the one that Secrets recommends or using a taxi.

There's nothing much at the marina. You won't find clubs or full fledged bars there. There are some great restaurants there that you can have drinks at in the area, but it's nothing like the strip areas you will find in the Bavaro area. I think it's a bit of a sacrifice because Cap Cana is absolutely beautiful and picturesque. I did want to check out Little John's beach bar, which is about a 5-10 min walk down from Secrets Cap Cana, but I never made it there.

Here's a list of restaurants that seem like it would make for a nice night out in the Cap Cana area.

I hope this helps!

There's no nights out in Punta unless you do Coco Bongo (heard not as good as Cancun). No "strip" to walk or anything like that.

You can definitely have nights out in Punta Cana and not just at the tourist trap of Coco Bongo. There aren't many nightlife options compared to Cancun Hotel Zone and Playa del Carmen, but they are there especially if you look into the local places. I actually prefer the nightlife in PC vs Cancun. I find that it's less commercial and touristy.
