Alternate route from GSP to Whittier?

We are flying into Greenville and driving to the Whittier area for 3 days. Then driving to Asheville before returning to Greenville to fly home. Since we are driving the interstate on the back end, is there a different route to get from GSP to Whittier? Google Maps is suggesting 107 as an alternative. Fewer miles but longer. Is it worth it or better to just stay on the quickest route? Not sure if this is the best forum?

I'd try 107/130 through Cashiers. Cashiers (Cash-urs, not Cash-ears) is a popular high elevation vacation destination. Might be worth a stop there for lunch.

You could also post this on the Road Trip Forum and they can help also.

Can you tell me where to find that forum? Is it under a state?

No, it's under "themes".

I don't think you really need to post there, though since your trip is just in the edge of SC and mostly in NC. I think here and the SC forums are fine for your purposes and the Road Trip folks will probably direct you back this way. Won't hurt anything to post there, though.

I'd go through Cashiers. It's very lovely.

If you do post on the Road Trips forum you might put Bryson City in the title. It's more well known than Whittier. I had to look that one up.

Depending on your time parameter, the route from GSP to Whittier offers some of the best scenery east of the Mississippi. Whitewater Falls, Panthertown Valley, Gorges State Park, Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, Lake Glenville ( highest navigable lake east of the Mississippi - great fishing and boating). Lake Jocassee was the best place in North America to experience the total eclipse..but you missed that.
