Tours from Visalia

Are there any private tours that will take you to from Visalia to Sequoia Nat Forest then to popular locations? (gen Sherman, crystal caves) and then drive us back down?

We have a couple of family members who have weak ankles!

We are planning to go July or August 2011

I found this one: www.sequoiatours.com/full-day-tour-info.htm

You must hike down to General Sherman on a paved path. There is no other way to get to it.

The link that Pirates posted is good. That is for a service called Sequoia Sightseeing Tours. There is a cost to do it and the tour guide is excellent, but depending on the size of your group you may not have it all to yourselves (if there are not enough of you to fill the whole bus then they will most likely still sell any/all remaining seats).

You can also try www.sequoiashuttle.com. The Sequoia Shuttle is a public service, but it will take you into the park from Visalia, and it makes stops at the various major attractions throughout the day.

Thanks so much for your help. Great info. Hiking down shouldn't be a problem, its the "up" I was worried about.

How was the "up"? Distance, time it took, strength required, etc.

Well, if disabilities are involved, there is a shuttle and disabled parking lot below the tree - so the driver could conceivably drop a party off at the top, then pick them up at the bottom. It's not a huge slope, in any case. Most people can do it if they take it slowly.

Hiking poles can really help in situations like this as well.
