Pika/Mineral King access

I'm looking for a day hike sometime May10-15 where I have the greatest chance to see pika. I know the Eagle Lake hike in Mineral King is known to have pika, but I'm under the impression the road from Three Rivers (where we have a cabin rented) will be closed until Memorial Day. Any chance it will open early? Any other recommendations on pika habitat in SEKI that we can get to without an overnight on the trail?

Thanks for any advice!

I have no specific knowledge about that road, but with this year's terrific snow, I wouldn't count on anything opening early. Quite the opposite, actually.

Have you tried emailing SeKi rangers? Facebook?
