I'm sure the answer to this is already in a post somewhere, but we were wondering if anyone could advise on the best way to get to from Agra to Ranthambore (in Dec) - hire a taxi or train.
We thought about train but not sure of the schedule/timetable.

you can do it by train and by car, for train status you can check out indianrail.gov.in

to gO RANTHAMBOHRE - AGRA train will be good choice.if u want to go by road,you have to hire taxi-car and road is also not good after Dausa.so its take more then 7 hours.

13 helpful votes Most covinient is to hire a car from Agra to Ranthambhor. When travelling by car you can visit Fatehpur Sikri and Bharatpur bird sanctuary on the way. Journey time can be around 6 hrs. beside time you spend for sight seeing.
Another way is to take train upto Sawai Madhopur. Few trains between Agra and Sawai Madhopur while there is good train connectivity between Bharatpur and Sawai Madhopur.

If you are on limited budget then take train. This train line is not very busy line so generally the trains will run according to the schedule

best way ....
Take a train for sector Ranthambhore till bharatpur and bharatpur agra by car visiting bird scantuary and fatehpur sikri and reached to agra.

Car to Bharatpur, then train to Sawai Madhopur it is.
