17 helpful votes There is on-street pay parking just outside the walls on the road that approaches the town from the north. There are usually one or two men around to collect the parking fee, so it is fairly secure.

There is also a large public (pay) parking lot next to the castello. We arrived from the south. But exited to the north. My guess is that all roads leading into Monte Sant'angelo eventually lead to the apex of the town near the castle. It is a very short walk (couple of minutes) to the sanctuary.
Thanks so much. I see the parking lot you mention near the castello. It is exactly the type of parking I am looking for that is close enough to walk to the sanctury. It's so cool to use google maps and view the area before going there, so we have a better sense of where everything is located. Thanks again.
