Car or bike rental in Easter Island

Hi there,

I am planning to travel to Easter Island in July and wonder if its cheap and easy to rent a bike/motorcycle or even a small car. I will stay a full week and want to explore the whole Island.

Are there cash points where we can use VISA to withdraw money? Are credit cards accepted in shops or restaurants or cash only?

Thanks

You can easily rent bikes and cars. However, rental vehicles are a good complimentary way of exploring the island so you might consider booking tours first and, then, rent a vehicle.

Weather might be a bit unpredictable in July so you might appreciate a vehicle with a roof...

You should note that there's a raising concern amongst the locals since cars are a huge environmental problem on the island and, thus, you might not get any extra smiles when you're moving around with a rental car.

You can withdraw money from ATMs (Santander and Banco Estado). Credit cards are mostly accepted, even there's exceptions, as well.
