Travel throughout the balkans

I am travelling around the Balkans from Australia, for 1 month from late May, shall I hire a car or rely on public transport, my plans are Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Albania and anything in between, appreciate any tips

Depends on what you plan to do and exactly where you go. Very likely some combination of the two will best meet your needs. (,Taking a car rented in one country into another (esp. Albania) may be costly or impossible.)

Yeah, if you want to rent a car, you should always drop it in the same country and then cross to another with public transportation.
