Going again to Pylos area. Have never noticed any currency exchange shops. Anyone know of any?
Don't even consider changing cash over here, use ATMs, unless your card carries heavy charges, in which case bring euros or use a preloaded travel card.. You may find somewhere showing similar rates as the UK, but then there'll be commission to pay, those that show no commission will almost always be worse rates. From an ATM you get the interbank rate, the Greek bank ATMs make no charge.
If you do use ATMs please read this first,
You can pay for a lot with a card, you only need cash for smaller purchases or one of the few businesses exempt from having a POS machine as required by law now.Edited: 04 August 2017, 07:56
There is a bank or two in the center of Pylos, isn't it ? Pireus bank and National Bank if I dont remember wrong.
BTW: I just checked google maps. They are both shown on the map.
Yes, there are banks, I seem to recall an exchange office too, but not good rates for cash :(
I definitely know the Piraeus bank as it's the one I use whenever I'm there!
Thanks for information. I do know there are 3 banks in Pylos just wondered if there was also a currency shop as
many places have. These often give better rates than a bank.Cheers from Cornwall UK.
Isn't a currency shop just more expensive than a bank ? Like Yassas says, ATMS always gives the best rate, but never accept to be charrged in your home currency. Always in Euros.
There are ATM's and a bank.Didn't notice anything else. Gorgeous town!
