We booked our meal quite late but they found us a time that worked. We were welcomed warmly and shown straight to our table. Great choice in the menu and the food was served quickly and was hot, which for me is important. It was all perfectly cooked and really well presented and I thought good value for money. As... More

After climbing up and down Blencathra, we ventured here for a sandwich and a beer. Very friendly people and the sandwich and accompanying food was more like a proper lunch. It definitely helped refuel!

Treated family to week in Threlkeld and NYE dinner at the H&F which was excellent in terms of quality of food and service with a very welcome pint (or 2) of Jennings Cumberland ale to accompany the festivities. Then had dinner there later in the week and again food and service great...thanks Keith (hope I caught your name correctly..age!) for... More

My partner and I have been eating at the Horse and Farrier for quite a few years, and have seen several owners come and go during that time. We used to eat here when on holiday in the Lakes, and have lived about a 20 minute drive from this pub for the last 5 years. We decided to take a... More

We first visited the horse and farrier around 5 years ago. At the time we were looking for somewhere to have a quick lunch. What we ended up having was the three course Christmas special. Since then we've visited the lakes a couple of times but for the life of us we couldn't remember the name of the restaurant. Now,... More

As a resident of Keswick I visit the Horse and Farrier from time to time for lunch, either when I'm taking a break from working indoors or out on the fells. This is the best eating venue in the Keswick area, including the town. Professionally run with friendly, courteous staff, top class meals. Nice pint of Guinness too!

We popped in here without booking and due to a couple not having turned up for their table we were ok. We had the traditional Sunday lunch which was excellent. All produce was local which was good. Quality of the food was lovely and very tasty. Portions were sufficient so we couldn't manage desserts! Highly recommended.

Warm & welcoming. Decent food. Weston's draught cider. Dog curled up by our table in the snug. What more do you need?!

We were recommended this place and told to book, so glad we did book - arrived just after 7 and the place was packed, always a good sign in my eyes. We were seated swirly and our drinks order was taken promptly. The menu read well and my juices began to flow. We opted to go straight for main courses,... More
