Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Family lunch at Madame Monclair Cafe was a lovely experience. Located on the main street of Latrobe in a historic building in conjunction with the Monclair gift shop it makes for a great visiting experience all round. Nice choice in menu and the food quality...is really good. Friendly and helpful service and the whole feel of the place is relaxing and very pleasant. Prices are also very reasonable. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Recommended.More

The cafe/restaurant is 'out of site' through a gate and a yard from the street. The layout inside is beautifully done and with a nice little fireplace (actually lit). A good little menu with reasonably priced food. It was great that the hot drinks and...food came out at the same time also. The staff appeared to be happy and quite willing to oblige customers.More

Very average food. Fried fish an coleslaw. Cold meals. Nothing French other than a croissant. Unwelcoming, disputing our booking made 2 hours earlier.

Gift shop with a cafe in the back. Great gift shop and wonderful glittery trinkets to entice you to part with your money. I did, but it was a worthy spend. Out of the store to the cafe or access from shop. Nice food and...cuppa. Service was slow 15-20 mins for service. Persistence and fortitude required as the server also barista. Old world decor reminds one of bygone era in early Australia. Crap service, but good food. Only you can decide if the food is worth the wait.More

Love the courtyard garden! - especially during the warmer parts of the year. It so green, tranquil... reliving its dignified colonial history, while basking in the glorious light filtering into the yard. Of course, the coffee's perfect! Perfectly matched by all sorts of yummy cakes...hand made on premise. Have returned again and again for just that! For lunch? I'll take a pie and pastie at Oliver's down the same street any day for a quick bite. And when in the mood for some finer dining? There's Thai Imperial just a short drive away... with pleasant views!More

Cosy, Comfy, Relaxed Away from the maddening crowd and a pleasant surprise on the southern end of the main street, Latrobe. Yes. A smaller space but we had the choice of indoors or outdoors in a glorious garden overflowing with flowers. Note the word SURPRISE

A good find. Beautiful set up with lovely garden dining Saw this when driving past and decided to drop in for breakfast. A simple menu but the food was good. I had the omelet. I prefer a simple menu if it’s done well. Also had...a coffee, it was ok Had a piece of lemon meringue pie and banoffee pie. Both were pretty good! There was also a large selection of gluten free optionsMore

Gorgeous garden for outdoor eating. Dog-friendly and lovely service with a wide range of delicious homemade fare including a great range of gluten - free cakes. A woodfire is very attractive on chilly winter days!

This quirky little cafe has lots of options: * Eclectic dining room with mismatched chairs and tables (from Vinnies?), * Stylish verandah with linen table cloths, and * Informal courtyard with outdoor furniture. My wife, a vegetarian, was delighted with the menu offerings. Vegetarian food...is often so boring and bland. But Madame M makes it interesting.. Yet this small menu also caters well for carnivores. Very nicely done. Over three days, we had two meals, a breakfast and a lunch. We both thought that both meals were excellent.More

A group of 12 of us arrived without booking and were made to feel so welcome. The cafe is so beautifully decorated - it really feels like an event going there. Thrilled that there were so many truly gf options, all prepared in a separate...part of the kitchen. Excellent food and delicious coffee. Thank you for making it such a special experience!More
