We came one night with friends and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the service. There was a lovely fire to take the evening chill off and there was a good ambience. The wine list is varied and the beer is good, there is even Guinness available. All in all a most enjoyable experience.

We were very lucky to find this place, friendly service and amazing food. We really enjoy the experience so much we returned for both lunch and dinner many times. The kids really enjoyed eating there as did we. They also have an amazing selection of quality wines from the best local vineyards at reasonable price. The staff at Le Gensake... More

Nice seeing. Lovely open fire. Choice of quiche or terrine and salad to start. No real finesse to either but OK. Choice of cod and rice or faux filet and chips. The faux filet was OK, the chips were not great and the strange little pot of sauce was... Well, strange. Dessert was tarte tatin. Again OK. Nothing about the... More

Super dinner in a sleepy town. A great and lovely surprise, because Gensac is well off the beaten track and Le Gensake seems to be the only place in town! Fabulous welcome, outstanding service and great cooking!! Well worth making a detour for!!

Set in the village of Gensac, the Gensake is a traditional kind of restaurant on the main street. The interior is quite French, with a piano near the entrance in the bar area, and you would almost expect to see Rene from Alo Alo behind the bar. You would not be totally disappointed, as the waiter has a well maintained moustache... More

Our last night after staying in a delightful B&B, in the equally charming town of Gensac. Had an early flight out of Bordeaux airport, so asked our host for any local suggestions for dinner, as we had to get up very early for the drive. While the plan was solid, it fell apart by going to Le Gensake!! We stayed... More

This is one of our two local restaurants in beautiful Gensac. It has everything going for it, good food, fine wine, good service, tasteful decor and conviviality. Not expensive either. Summer or winter, a super evening all round.

Gouthier has a gem here! Dinner is special, changes regularly and was an exceptional delight that from be them open on Sunday. Friends tell us lunch is more basic. If you ask for Le Cart du Vin, you will be shown the wall of wines from which to choose, mostly from local producers. Not truly 5 stars but given the... More
