Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Shalom was so tasty, that for both nights we were in Sydney, we ate there. The food is very authentic and you can tell a restaurant food is good is when native peoples frequent the place. On both our visits we had gado-gado and were...not disappointed either time. The peanut sauce on the salad and the sate were outstanding. While Shalom is not an upscale restaurant by it's decor, don't let that be a deterrent, as the food is excellent.More

There were quite a few free parking spots around the area so getting here for lunch wasn't too difficult. The menu has a large range of different tasty-sounding treats. We perused through the menu at the table and ordered at the counter. We started with...the cendol and the soimay bandung. Both were really good and the soimay had a really nice chewy texture that we got a siomay goreng. We then shared the beef ribs, fried duck and the chicken satay. We grabbed different sambals for the different dishes. Again they were all really tasty. The portions weren't too bad too. I thought it was quite a nice place for some tasty food, but you might need to be careful with the sambals if your spice tolerance isn't very high. We were able to get the sambal to the side though instead of over the meat.More

I made a telephone booking, & asked if they were byo restaurant. Was told no, so I asked if they were licensed, & was also told no. I assumed they must be halal, & was told yes. None of this is on their website.

We went to @shalomkingsford and It was fantastic I really loved it! Went I went there, the environment just hit me with authenticity and when I was eating the food it just tasted authentic!! The sambal(chilli) was so hot but so delicious that I just...wanted more and more!! The only thing negative I could say is that the portion sizes was in the small size and wish it could be a little bigger! I would only give this a 4/5 but still recommend coming here!!More

I decided to dine in at this restaurant for the last 2 nights. If you want to go and dine here and do not want any customer service from the staff then go ahead. Customer service? There is none in this restaurant. The staff dont...seem to understand customer service. When you place your dinner order the only thing the staff say to you is to repeat your order to make sure they have got it right. There are no smiles, no thank you or no engagement at all. I used to eat here many times over the last 8 years as I only live around the corner from Shalom. The food is okay, just average I feel even though the prices are now higher than when I first started going here. I ordered 5 chicken satay sticks with rice at $15.00. I could quiet finish and went to the front counter to ask for a takeaway container. The cook provided me with a take away container and plastic bag which I thanked her for. She did not mutter one word to me, not even thank you for dining or goodbye. I will not be going back to this restaurant at all in the future. I am one of those people that likes to be welcomed in any business that I go into. I totally didn't feel this way at all. So much for this restaurant trying to encourage patrons to come back to try to recoup money that they have lost because of covid19 restrictions. I wont be going back I promise.More

Pay after you ordered restaurant. All Indonesian food. Staff are not friendly seems like they are bored and don’t want to be there. Very minimum conversation to customer. Ordinary tasting food and nothing special. Many restaurants with better choices and tasting food.

Came in for a late lunch, the place seems to have customers at all hours. The food is cheap, tasty, served efficiently and excellent value for money. We had a delicious eggplant with chilli, an equally delicious fried tofu with home made peanut sauce, a...decent gado gado, made with salad and which didn't include egg and potato but had tasty tofu and tempeh, and a chicken and mushroom noodle soup. There's only two people working there, taking orders, cooking and cleaning, you've got to admire them, especially as all dishes were served so promptly. A great place for the hungry uni students in the area.More

Looking for a quick tasty bite? This is the place to go. Get some classic Indonesian grilled or fried chicken or grab something different like their ox tail soup. If you like it spicy try their fiery shalom sambal sauce, be warned it’s extremely spicy....Feeling a bit hot from all the spicy sambal? Cool down with an Indonesian avocado ice drink.More

All i can say everything is average. We order bakso abang abang, ayam bakar bumbu bali and batagor and coconut ice. It was okay it was not too good but also not too bad. There was nothing special. It still cant satisfy our longing for...Indonesian taste. Price was okay not too expensive but not cheap either. Place is always crowded so if you can get sit before ordering that would be better.More

Great and popular local Indonesian food place. Order at the counter with many pictures to help you. If you like your spice, this is a serious place! Douse the flames in your throat with the excellent desserts such as the durian ice kachang- probably the...best in Sydney. This is a dish of colourful shaved ice drenched with rose syrup, coconut milk and coconut sugar covering a precious serving of that king of fruits!More
