Firstly, I would like to say the Restaurant Manager, Sam, made my son's 23rd birthday for a party of 7, a night to remember, we let Sam take care of the ordering of the entrees and wine up to a price point. The prawns were a total standout. Then the main courses were all exceptional everyone couldn't decide what to order as the menu read so well, the duck legs were delicious as was the steak in Asian sauce was awesome and the fish of the day, groper was exceptional. Sam threw in a few birthday desserts that were all yummy. The Drake is a great example of a mod oz, French-influenced Bistro, that somehow is better than the real ones in France. When we said our goodbyes on the street, everyone said what a great night and restaurant that was. Thanks, Sam and the Drake.

I went there for lunch with some friends on a Friday and liked it so much I brought my wife back on the Sunday. The food is uncomplicated but super tasty. The arancini balls were moist and cooked perfectly. The marinated tuna, gnocci and the fish of the day were all perfect and tasty too. Add to that a great simple lettuce salad side dish and great potatoes and I was very well fed. Definitely would recommend this place. Some might find it a bit cramped if the restaurant was full but both times we went, we had lots of space as it wasn't full. I'll be back!

A great option for real good in Bondi. I wanted something other than burgers or pizza and Drake proved the perfect option. Started with 4 oysters, okay but nothing special. The real star was the duck, about half a duck cooked perfectly. Crispy skin, not greasy, just wonderful. The restaurant also was less crazy, and less touristy, than anything else I saw.

Booked well in advance and was assured due to this we could have a window seat for 4 people for a 70th birthday dinner. Arrived and was told we had to eat in 1 hour 15 mins if we wanted a window seat.. and in a very abrasive way. Spoilt the night. Two of the three staff we had contact with were snooty and disinterested . One waitress was however lovely. Food was good.. but the attitude ruined the evening...

I found Drake just wandering past and the menu looked interesting. The staff were welcoming and I settled on for some delights. The seared Tina was nicely presented, I enjoyed the sesame crunch but the marinade was just a little short of punch, maybe just a little more of it would have solved the problem. Nice but a near miss for me. I initially chose the line caught fish but, on discovering that it waxs salmon rather than a more exciting local delicacy, I switched to the duck. This came with a really nice fruity sauce and the thinnest jus I have ever seen, it looked like someone had spilled water on the plate. It was garnished with crispy kale which was very good in texture and taste. The duck was nicely cooked but, for some reason, I ran out of enthusiasm half way through. I fell the offer of a dessert menu and like three out of four, plumping for a white chocolate honeycomb creation which was super but two times bigger than I needed. Too rich to finish and somewhat out of balance with the other portion sizes. The Malbec was delicious, the sticky wine,so-so. Overall a decent effort but little details could have made it feast.

We made a same-day booking on the long weekend for dinner with some overseas friends. We ordered some dishes to share, which they really enjoyed. The duck leg was a little dry but everything else was quite delicious. The service was good as well.

Nice and chilled atmosphere with super friendly staff and great service. Excellent cocktails. The chargrilled wagyu rump was to die for. Other stand out dishes were the duck arancini, blue cheese gnocchi and the pork belly. Would definitely return.

Shocked how crowded and crammed together tables were. Cooks shaking hands with customers. Lack of COVID responsibility on all levels. To malls things worse the food was bad. Beef main was so flavoursome it tasted like a bottle of soy sauce was poured over it. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Very disappointing

Found this as wanting a place close to our daughters home. Service initially a little slow but was a Friday night, Agathe from Toulouse was our main waitress and helpful, had a brief chat to the sous chef at the end who is Italian. We shared two salads, both awesome, burrata and nectarine. The girls had pork for main, I had the entree choice of gnocchi for main, the gnocchi are the best I have had in my lifetime, only one minor criticism is the gorgonzola cheese is quite strong but would reorder in a flash. The baked cheese cake was great, the rhubarb a little under cooked. We shared the Lime Kiln Point pinot noir 2018, off the shelf and too warm so used some ice to cool. Apparently the gnocchi is a signature dish and been on the menu from day one. Of interest a very young guy was dining on his own, he really savoured his glass of red and dish over a long period, I was impressed and just reinforces the point this a good place to savour your wine and food. Be very happy to return.

I have eaten here a few times and it had been good. This visit was so disappointing. The restaurant was busy. We waited for a very long time for our entrees and for another hour and a half for our mains. Tables that arrived after us were eating happily. Even the drinks were slow. The wait staff had little idea of what was happening or why or how to handle the delay. Overall very disappointing and with the vast variety of great eateries nearby,, I won’t be returning.

Went to Drake with my daughter for lunch. Ian the Chef is so friendly and welcoming. The food is divine, we had the cheese soufflé, the thyme gnocchi, pork belly and Brussel sprouts. It was sooo delicious, l can’t wait to go back. The service is excellent and the ambience is light and modern. If you want a real treat take your friends and family to Drake!

I visited Drakes Eatery after looking for some recommendations on Trip Advisor, Such a gem! The team are so welcoming as soon as you arrive. Fantastic menu with lots of options, so I asked what the teams recommended menu items which was Gnocchi, Fish of the day - Barramundi, and the Baked Cheesecake. The gnocchi was incredible, soft pillows packed full of flavour and various textures with the macadamias and grapes. I followed it with the barramundi- which I was unsure of as it doesn’t always have the greatest representation as a clean fish however Ian explained the barramundi they use are salt water ones, and have a much fresher flavour. So glad I did as it was light, cooked to absolute perfection and so tasty!! It was the perfect follow on from the gnocchi. Finally I had the baked cheesecake which was devine, the strawberries have a slight acidity to them like a balsamic and the rhubarb was soaked in orange, absolutely delicious. The food and team are an absolute delight and I would highly recommend visiting! I don’t believe there would be a bad dish on the menu!

As soon as you walked in you were made welcomed. Service was excellent and very friendly. The food was excellent. The Wagyu entree fantastic. Sirloin steak can't fault. Duck dish very good. The service, food and experience can not fault. Would highly recommend. Only positive comment would be to have main dishes with sides rather then having to order extra. Otherwise next time in Bondi Beach definitely visit again.

As we climbed into bed we were talking about Drake’s takeaway pastas and salad. Soon I was In “dreamtime” tasting the best of Padua, Venice, Verona and maybe Naples. I woke up in Bondi and missed 7 hours worrying about COVID 19! Thanks for dinner. J&G

Love Drake - from the service to the atmosphere to the yummy food. One of my favourite places to go to in Bondi. Always friendly, always great food but make sure you leave room for dessert - the honeycomb one is amazing!
