Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not great for the price. Could be an issue of the secret recipe and flavour being lost in the original pompei eruption. Ordered the beef pasta, lack of flavour, watery sauce pasta tasted like packet pasta. Focaccia bread was good though.

We were looking for a good pizza, so chose Pompeii’s because several other pizza places in Bondi had poor reviews. Pompeii’s didn’t disappoint - the pizza was fresh and delicious with generous topping. Would’ve given it 100% except that we like our pizza thin and...crispy without much crust, but that’s just our choice. Recommendation endorsed by the fact that it is obviously a favourite place for Italian families. Service was super efficient and friendly.More

One of my favourite places to eat in Sydney. I love the traditional pizzas and Homemade Gnocchi. The Ice chocolates are amazing too.

Dear George, We share your disappointment. An authentic Italian restaurant that serves a bad lasagna is a no no. We apologise for our mistake and we have immediately acted to make sure it won’t happen again, it was the first time we have offered lasagna...More

In simple terms if you are after a quality Italian meal, this is the place to come to. In our group some had the Calzone, some had pizza, some had pasta – all very good. Special note that the pasta with snapper, prawns, capers, chilli...etc got a big tick of approval. Great variety on the menu so no doubt we will be back. We also hit the dessert – can’t beat a good gelato. It had great atmosphere when we were there, early on it could be a bit noisy for some but we enjoyed it.More

This is a traditional Italian restaurant with a very pleasant decor and ambience. It has a very extensive menu offering a wide range of authentic Italian food. Our group universally praised the quality of their lunches and we agreed that this was the best Italian...meal we had eaten for a long time. All our dishes were delicious, well presented and very generous in size. The wine list offers an extensive range of Australian and Italian wines and both the food and wine were very reasonably priced. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely.More

Had an excellent Saturday night dinner out here. For my daughters 18th birthday dinner. Started with great gelato cocktails. All the food was excellent. The puttanesca, the snapper pasta, the gnocchi and the ravioli. And to finish with pistachio and ricotta gelato. All great. Top...service. The setting nice in a window seat to watch the passing parade of Gould St. It’s Italian food served well, presented well and tasted great.More

We visited Pompei's on our first visit to Australia. Needless to say, we were very pleased with the warm welcome of its staff. Even more importantly, their pizza was a real Italian treat, perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients. I must mention that the dough they...make, besides being perfectly soft and crunchy at the same time, it is very light on the gut (You will only realize that a few hours later after eating) and it doesn't bloat you as other pizza's doughs do. Lastly, we could not leave without trying their gelato (ice cream), OMG, that is beyond deliciousness, made of the highest ingredients (you don't have to be a chef or gelato experts to say that...your palate will feel that right away at the first scoop). Thank you for the great lunch, and for making us feel home away from home.More

Ate there twice on a recent trip and enjoyed both times very much. Pizza was delicious, service was wonderful, and the gelati superb, especially when choc topped. MY 11 year old thought the Eton Messi was the best dessert of all time.
