I phone booked a table for 11 people 6 days prior to the date of Melbourne Cup Eve. I amended the total number the day before of the booking. I arrived early on the due date. The person in charge checked the booking and couldn't...find it! The restaurant was nearly fully booked, so I became quite alarmed at this development as it is a smallish space.. The two men in charge seemed at a loss as to what to do and then proceeded to start moving tables around, then stopped and indicated we could have a large table already set up for another group. The table was not set for the required number. This went unchecked for awhile, until I drew attention to it and requested that it was completed. One friend turned up unexpectedly, swelling our total number to 12 people. After this terrible start, things did not run smoothly throughout the evening. We ordered individually and after taking our orders, waited for a long time before our meals arrived- patrons who had arrived after us were served before us. During the meal plates were not cleared away, we had to request refills for water jugs; the table service was managed very badly. There was a live musician up one end of the space who performed very loudly to the point of us unable to hear each other talk. One of our group took it upon himself to go up to the performer and ask him to turn his sound down, which he did promptly. Throughout the meal, an older staff member who throughout the meal, delivered dishes and took drink orders, had a very impatient manner to the point of rudeness when taking orders. At the completion of our meal, as we lined up to pay at the counter, we waited and waited for someone to attend to us. It was a narrow space and one of the male staff, an older man, was behind one of our group and placed his hand lightly on her back, excused himself but pushed her ( not hard) to one side, to get through. I witnessed him doing this. I spoke to him and told him that his behaviour was rude and that he should have waited for her to move out of the way. He apologised, nevertheless he shouldn't have acted in that way with a customer.
Overall, despite the food being very tasty with reasonably large serving size, I will not be returning to this restaurant, nor will any of the group. The staff at this restaurant seemed poorly organised, unable to cope with a fully booked space and two male members lacked fundamental personal manners towards some members of our group. I do not recommend this restaurant unless you don't mind poor service and staff who lack basic manners. I NEVER write a negative review on Trip Advisor, but there were far too many poorly managed situations during the evening, with the staff of this restaurant to ignore.More
