Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The owner of this great little find, Sarah, provided such a variety of delicious food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. The coffee and hot chocolates went down very easily. Bacon and eggs in all varieties delicious, and we loved the scones. Not to mention the suggestions of where else to visit in Normanville. So friendly and helpful. Two visits not enough.

It's nice to see someone try something a little bit different from the normal takeaway fare. They offer themed breakfast, burgers and hotdogs. The coffee and the service is good. I have always been satisfied.

The best chips, hot dogs and burgers in Normanville. The staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome and they make good coffee too. I just wish the opening hours were in the window so I could use it more.

Best fish and chips and Salt & Pepper Squid in Normanville. My son recommends the hot dogs too!
Generous portions but more importantly, tasty.
Friendly and efficient service. A must do.

They told us they make the best omelettes on the peninsular …. They were right. Good wholesome food for a reasonable price. Would go back just to have another omelette!

We had lunch here on a Saturday late morning as Normanville was REALLY busy so we thought we'd get in early.
Got a table outside with our dog. Nice shade.
Friendly efficient service. Generous portions. Nice burgers.

Brunch time in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula town of Normanville. Having perused places to eat in Normanville, the Southbound Diner caught my eye. Situated in Main Street, the Diner is easily identified by its distinctive street frontage with a large US flag fluttering in the breeze.
Parking streetside is an issue at the best of times, but the adjacent Romeo’s Foodland has a large car park as the back and also gives easy access to the Diner. Under the veranda is an outdoor seating area with several tables inside as well. Entering the Diner, the service area is directly ahead with a menu on the wall behind. Printed menus are available at the service area and also on each table.
The menu is varied and what caught my eye were the “breakfast” items named after US Presidents. And the current 2020 President has a burger named after him! And that’s not mentioning the Hound Dogs – 10inches – served with Beer Battered Chips.
A Kennedy? An Obama? A Reagan? I settled for a Cleveland – three pancakes with bacon, maple syrup and cream. To drink a vanilla milkshake and for my partner a flat white coffee only. Selected an indoor table and gazed around the diner. The brilliant colours enhanced the ‘old’ advertising signs slightly dimmed by age. It was 50’s-60’s heaven and only missing Danny, Sandy, Richie and Fonzie! The kitchen are is open and can be viewed as the chef prepares each meal. The coffee arrived with pleasant service and was hot and of medium strength whilst the vanilla milkshake was very thick and creamy. Then came the Cleveland. Quite a visual delight and hopefully a culinary one too. I was not disappointed. The pancakes were very light and fluffy, the bacon, slightly thicker than what is normally served, was smokey and well cooked, the maple syrup was a lot thicker and not as sweet as normally supplied at pancake places. And the cream? Just topped it all off!
Whilst there both eat-in and take-away trade was brisk and I can understand why with good service, a varied menu and great food. Tie that together with a chef that has a wicked sense of humour, this is a must when visiting Normanville.
Return? Definitely as I do want to work my way through the Presidential meals!
