Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came for Valentine’s Day . The service was excellent and the food came out pretty quick however over all the food was nothing remarkable… I think their non Valentine’s Day menu much better.

Most importantly the food was tasty and delicious, and the waitstaff were lovely. However, the decor felt like that of a cheaper establishment. Linen tablecloths and napkins would have been more appropriate. And if not, then the paper serviettes needed replacing more frequently.

A lovely atmosphere, great service (JayJay was excellent). The food was true French cuisine (delicate and tasty) and well priced. We could not fault a thing and we enjoyed every minute of it. We will definitely be back for more.

Our favourite restaurant for fine wine and food. We’ve been dining here roughly 4 times a year for 8 years and never had a bad dish. Jay and his staff are so hospitable and professional. It’s French food at its best - authentic and delicious.

Jay and his staff excelled with their latest degustation for Bastille Day. Every dish was beautifully presented and extremely delicious. We look forward to the upcoming Truffle dinner.

Really ordinary food with a high price tag. Wouldn’t recommend a visit it was flavourless not French and it felt like everything had been prepared before and microwaved .

Super high prices for mediocre food. French onion soup is served in a TINY scanpan pot....about half a cup, if that. Cost = $19. You can see how small the pot is in the attached photo...compare to the spoon. We also ordered the Mussels. You...got 12 and 4 were not opened. They did replace them but that is not the point, they never should have made it to the table! We were offered "bread for the table". Yes please. Probably the most delicious part of our meal. When we got the bill it was $8.50! It was 5 slices, not a whole baguette or anything. My grandson had a childs meal and we ordered him some ice cream. Oh my goodness....1 small quenelle and it was $3.50! If you are looking for ANY form of ambience or even a hint that you are dining in a French restaurant, you won't find it here. No tablecloths (for the price, I would expect one!), no nice cutlery, plates or glasses and NO music. Edith Piaff was MIA. A very disappointing and expensive lunch with VERY small servings.More

The food is always good here; however, i have noticed the wait staff are not as good as they used to be- not too attentive and not aware!!! It was a bitterly cold night and the wait staff kept leaving the door to outside open-...no concern for the comfort of the people inside. This lack of awareness brings the review down to average.More

I'd been here to a super private function, & immediately determined to return with chums to try the chef's a la carte skills.. it all seemed so promising. Alas the unashamedly "classic" French Bistro cooking wasn't truly reflecting the kitchen expertise I'd enjoyed at the...dinner..perhaps Chef Jay wasn't even in the kitchen tonight>?? Given the very name of the establishment being "COCOTTE" , one might expect any cocotte dish ordered HERE would be stunning--the salmon version selected was overcooked for my taste, & not stellar which I'd thought I might have had delivered to me.. Nice enough, but..only "OK". & my much-anticipated souffle was similarly only just "ok"...how sad. My husband's' tending to be dry' belly pork main seemed impressive when admired when being placed on table >> but ultimately was barely just OK>>plus my twice cooked Beef cheeks main didn't reflect the skill-set I'd noted when I'd visited before. A very dark crust had been allowed to form on the tops of those twice-cooked meat chunks--& this disturbing presentation suggested to me it'd been left under a serving heat lamp >> far too long. So yet again...even more below par delivery. Similarly, the "fresh" asparagus side was messy & unforgivably confused--not reflecting the traditional Francophile respect new season's vegetables deserve. In all, quite disappointing. . . . & certainly, not good enough. They allow BYO mid-week, but I doubt its worth your while taking a treasured bottle, because this is but a facsimile of a French Bistro ...what a pity.More

After extensive publicity regarding Vaccination Status and reopening of restaurants one would expect staff to know the rules. I was greeted by an overly 'bossy' woman who demanded to see my Vaccination Status. I showed her the Service NSW App with the Hologram and the...words Vaccination Status - and she refused to accept it. No matter how I explained that is was the accepted standard, she claimed that it was not valid and demanded to see my 'Green Certificate'. A totally unnecessary display of SAP (Suddenly Acquired Power). The meal however was excellent with the Twice Cooked Beef Cheeks a memorable dish.More

I read the reviews and most seem to have loved the Bistro itself, the ambience and the friendly staff as much as the food. However, they don't seem to have mastered the Art of Takeaway. The "friendly" staff were not in evidence when we picked...up our order. When we got it home, we discovered one of the dishes (although paid for) was missing. We rang the Bistro to be told that they had accidently given it to someone else and they would refund the money "when you come back". Some of the meal was fine: the pork belly was excellent, but the puree served with it was stuck to the plastic container so could not be plated. The salmon Cocette also was stuck to the plastic and could not be plated... And don't get me started on the French onion soup... the illustration looked delicious, but French onion soup cannot be transported in a plastic container... if there was gruyere in there, it had given up the ghost and drowned. Take-home message: French onion soup should NOT be on a takeaway menu! We made it to the desserts... the Fondant au Chocolat was delicious, which is more than can be said for this strange plastic container of passionfruit trying to hide a flat-bread which begged to be called "soufflé"... sorry, you're nobody's idea of a soufflé. Oh, the pommes frites were excellent. Despite a very generous discount, at $180+, this was a very expensive and unhappy experience... of course, with this Plague and lockdown, we realize times are hard, but if you can't handle takeaway, don't do it!More

Was greeted by a sharp plastic shard in the dessert during a $500 mother's day lunch. They gave me $12 off and three croissants from the morning in return. Needless to say it could have been worse if I'd bitten down on what I thought...was a hazelnut. Won't be going there again....More

Dined here last night for the first time in a party of four and had a great evening. Food was delicious, good wait staff who were welcoming and hardworking, and the bistro had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Higlights were the freshly shucked oysters, French onion...soup, the salmon cocotte, the night special (John Dory) and the eye fillet of beef. Good wine list too. We will definitely be back.More
