Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rustic cafe reminiscent of old style road side cafes. A nice little detour when travelling between Coromandel and Auckland.
Coffee was nice today and the food honest and tasty. Cabinet food only. A good thing in some ways as it’s just a qik rest on your trip.
Staff were lovely today.

Have stopped here many times but there seems to be a change in operation. Food ok. Good coffee but dogs in a cafe!! Owners dog jumped up onto table, couch, even watched as one peed against the food cabinet! Disgusting. As we got into our car to leave the irony of the large sign on the window ‘no dogs allowed’ was not lost on us. I will not be stopping here again.

Great coffee, great food, nice view of Ray's Rest and Firth of Thames. Plus the best outhouse in NZ. Worth a visit just for that!

We stop often on our way for refreshments. The stained glass window cake is nice. And the toilet with the stained glass window made out of bottles is worth a visit.

Weather its coffee time of the day or not this is a choice place to relax . Its a cafe, farm shop and gallery . Unassuming from the outside this is a real gem. The back room is cosy with a variety of paintings. Food is freshly made on-site, our frittata full of veges was grown nearby. Its a great diversion off the coast

We ended up here by pure chance this week. We travel alot for work and spend a great deal of time in cafes and eating on the go etc,
The lady that served us was pleasant. What wasn't pleasant was her using her hands to cut us a piece of bacon and egg pie. Not to mention the $8 it cost for a tiny slither we actually received.
If you want to stop here, be prepared to pay high for a small amount fo food. (our slice was just as small)

Stopped in for a coffee and snack. Quite unfriendly service. Expensive food and wares. Coffee order was not right. Ordered cappuccino and got flat white. Must say the roast vegetable frittata was superb. $6 for the tiniest slice of cake. Trip to the loo was a very interesting brick shed. The gallery was not to our taste and we thought humorously overpriced. Will not be stopping again.

We were a group of ten cyclists embarking on the Miranda to Thames cycle trail and this cafe was our first port of call after starting from Rays Rest. Nice food and coffee plus an art gallery next door to visit. The piece de resistance was the toilet which was located about 20m behind the cafe. This must be where the term “built like a brick sh*thouse” came from. An amazing Rick structure with a sensational circular window built from different coloured bottles. Lovely timber detailing, clean facility and a peaceful place to pass the necessary time. Well worth a visit.

Whilst driving between Auckland and Rotorua we came across this cafe by chance on our recent visit and decided to stop. What a delightful surprise it was.
We ordered various items including cakes which were all delicious but the absolute stand out was the mezze plate. It was so different from the traditional mezze plate with unexpected flavour combinations that were so fresh as if they had just been picked and assembled.
The coffees were also excellent.
They had various jams, chutneys, fruit, vegetables and eggs also for sale.
This cafe was an incredible find. If you happen to be in the area, do yourself a favour and stop. You won't regret it.

We found this cafe en route to Kaiaua by sheer chance. Small but interesting, super service, the food made on the premises including carrot cake, which was as good as it looked, and great coffee.

A rustic interesting place to stop. First class cafe food. Very good organic coffee. All fresh and tasty. Made on site.
Lovely friendly people run this cafe and they go the extra mile.
Today they only had enough broccoli and blue vein soup for one but were kind enough to halve it in two bowls so we both got some. We didn't have to ask for this.
Home made carrot cake a must. Always have one when we call. Delicious and moist.
Plenty of gluten free items
Little stall with organic fruits veggies and juices.
A perfect place to stop for a break from travelling.
