Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have tried quite a few Thai places in Sydney, but Atom is by far the best. Time and time again, my friends and I eat in or take out and are always left happy and raving about Atom. Staff are so friendly and accomodating....Food never disappoints. Good price too!More

This has become a regular place to eat for us. The food is really excellent. Our favourites to start are the miang goong (small eats with coconut, and other delicacies and spices with a prawn on top, which you fold together in a betel leaf)...and duck pancakes, or sometimes we share a spicy Nam Khao Thod - made with spicy fermented sausage. All are so good. For main courses I recommend the red duck curry, the crispy pork with chilli basil, and the papaya salad. The food really is excellent. The service is very professional and attentive.More

Thought we would try this place, outside of our own area. 3x Entrees came in small portions. 3x mains were very ordinary. Great service and easy to get to. We only chose this place because of the great reviews. Disappointed.

Happy to discover Atom was indeed open on a public holiday (& the modest $3 holiday surcharge couldn’t be argued with ) we were warmly welcomed & well looked after by the young man waiting table .. more than accommodating, he even obliged me with...a taste of the two wines I fancied but didn’t know - outstanding service! The Pad Thai was a tad too sweet & ‘wet’ for our taste - but the squeeze of lime assisted dealing with that ok ! I liked the Lamb Penang Curry a lot more … though I’d have preferred a more focused flavour..& I did expect that seeing they’re so proud they actually make their own pastes .. very enjoyable nonetheless! Rice served at table an extra unexpected service ! They have well priced & well chosen wines by the glass .,& they also welcome byo ! Now there’s ANOTHER reason to return !More

I've been walking past this place for years but have never given it a go, as Thai Patong is a family favourite. Recently we went to dine at another regular go-to - at least until now - Hikaru, but were turned away as apparently no...tables were available (despite the fact that several were visible). So, we headed to Atom Thai instead. This turned out to be a finw idea. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service quick and attentive. Be warned, though, it can be quite loud, as music made it difficult to talk to each other. And it's not the cheapest Thai on King St, but I'd suggest it's definitely one of the better ones.More

By far the best authentic Thai in Sydney. The service is impeccable and even though an average looking place the food is well presented and the ambience is cozy and comfortable. Well priced BYO wine restaurant.

The chilli duck dish was great, great flavour, very spicy and lots of tasty duck, so I can sort of accept the rather high price for that. The crab spring rolls and curry puffs were good but very light in comparison and probably not worth...the prices for such small entrees.More

I ordered via Menulog, the restaurant said they were super busy but it arrived in under an hour & was piping hot so I can't complain on the service. Overall it was a pretty decent meal. The crab spring rolls were crispy and delicious. The...massaman beef curry was fantastic, definitely my favourite here. The duck with hot chilli basil was lovely, although was about half meat & half vegetable. At $24 I don't think I would order it unless there was more meat. The pork pad kee mao was alright but seemed a bit bland, I've had similar noodles from other Thai places for cheaper, not worth $18.More

The service was good and the restaurant was packed, bustling and noisy in a prime location in King St, Newtown. We ordered a double serve of miang, a starter of beetle leaf topped with a whole prawn and crowned with towering tamarind soaked coconut. It...looked good but the tamarind and coconut overwhelmed the prawn and beetle leaf. That surprised me as I grow beetle leaf vine and it’s flavour is strong. Craving some hot food we ordered basil and chilli duck stir fry which had three chilli symbol beside it. There was no heat at all, even when I munched on the chilli. The steamed whole snapper with lemongrass was pleasant. Perhaps it wasn’t a good night but I wasn’t particularly impressed by the food. The reisljng by the glass was fine.More

Found this place early this year 2019 by accident, was so impressed that we said we would go for our 5 year Anniversary, and we were not disappointed. A little mixup with our reservations but all sorted out. Service and food were excellent, price excellent,...only thing we forgot was to ask for extra spicy hot flavor...... no issue will get that next time we go. Well done Atom.More

I have been to Atom Thai multiple times over the last few weeks and the service and quality are consistent. The food is average price for Sydney but it is definitely in my top two Thai restaurants. The staff is always friendly and attentive. It...is a good place to catch up over drinks (I believe you can bring your own bottle of wine). If you are in Newtown, I would recommend stopping by.More

Second time we’ve eaten here and both times really enjoyed it. We’ve two young children so we go for an early dinner, they are super family friendly- giving our children balloons, bringing their food out early, which I wish every place did! Food really tasty...- red curry was stand out; fresh, spicey, seriously good. Really like the whole package; really friendly staff and atmosphere and very tasty food. We’ll definitely be regulars!More
