I have been wanting to go to this place since a dear friend of mine suggested me to.
I must also say that I am not really a review kind of woman, but for those guys, I had to! Lets start with the smily and warm welcome given by the host Andreas, lovely Italian man. Not a very busy evening, we have been seated right away. Wine is amazing and the food is to die for, I had the Seafood Linguini and my husband had the Octopus dish. What amazed me was, besides the quality of the food, the attentive polite and friendly service. But also the prices, I believe any other restaurant able to provide this quality would charge at least $7-$8 on top of every dish.
Absolutely amazing place, will be back for sure!

I rarely eat in Italian restaurants as I always find that it hard to find authentic Italian dishes and most Italian restaurant compromise in order to meet the taste of non Italian diners. Alba was such a surprise, the moment I read the menu in the window I realized that this is not your typical trendy Italian restaurant. Everything is just like stepping inside Puglia for a while. From the attention to details in the traditional hand painted dinnerware to the food that is just like my nonna from Puglia used to make. Amazing service and you can see and hear the pride of reproducing time long home cooked traditional food. We loved it and I am looking forward to my next visit to Sydney to dine there again.

On our way to Dendy movies, Newtown we cased the menu on their window and entered. Music from the heel of Italy and a most personal greeting by our host was an impression that lasts. Our dishes fish and seafood pasta scored 10/10, but the delicate flavours, marinades and spices knocked our collective tastebuds into the knockout realm. This eatery is on our premier Newtown directional listing

I agree with previous reviewer that the food here is absolutely delicious, but for the price the servings could and should be larger.
Everything we’ve ordered has been so tasty, but surely it wouldn’t hurt them to be just a little more generous with the serving sizes.
Still highly recommended.

I am of Italy background and the food at Albla is authentic and delicious as it gets
I usually don't eat Italian when out for dinner or lunch but my wife wanted a nice plate of pasta for lunch.
We did the weekend $45 lunch special last Sunday, while buying some quirky Xmas prezzies in Newtown, and would highly recommend Alba
Staff are friendly and helpfully
Rolled out after a delicious 2hr long lunch
As "Molly" would say........... "do yourself a favor"

Right from the beginning they were so helpful, organising a quieter table for 7 of us towards the front. I was greeted by their waiter (?owner) with a smile and a handshake. The food was delicious-try the linguini with seafood- and the restaurant is licensed. The serves are not huge but are adequate in size. Everyone enjoyed their chosen dish and some had desserts which looked fabulous and were eaten up very fast. There are some vegan and gluten free options. I will definitely be back!

Although since you came, we had to stop our typical welcoming handshakes (due to COVID rules), we're still giving big welcoming smiles. We left a previous restaurant in the busy Newtown strip because there was no social distancing so we were relieved to find this stylish, spacious eatery with available tables. I had watched this restaurant being set up in 2019 and so I was interested to see how it turned out . It has an open kitchen & a fresh feel. The service was excellent & we were quickly attended to & our orders taken. It is a smallish menu but there is a large specials board. We had the bruschetta which was tasty. My partner's pasta dish was enjoyable & my vegan choice of a stuff capsicum was interesting. The wine list favours Italian wines of the Puglia area. The owner came to have a chat & even showed us his nonna's recipe books when asked how authentic the dishes were. He is very passionate about his culinary heritage. We had an affogato for dessert & felt we had turned a disastrous night of dining into a very enjoyable one. We hope to return on a Monday or Tuesday night when they do very good deals.

Located in the vibrant inner city hub of Newtown, this local "go to" Italian restaurant delivers on warmth and hospitality from his owners and staff.
The atmosphere is relaxed - the italian style for consuming tasty, regional dishes among friends or family.
We dined there with our wonderful Italian friend (and self confessed food-nazi who eschews any establishment with a non authentic menu).
Good food, good service, good price and a wine menu that does not break the bank. Vi consiglio una bottiglia di vino rosso, si chiama "Primitivo" sulla lista dei vini.
I recommend a bottle of Red called "Primitivo" on the wine list.
What did we eat:
Antipastiera, Fave e cicorie, Rolle di pollo, Stracotti di Carne, and the others were "specials of the night" - non ricordo i nomi. Followed with Affogato and/or caffe.

This was a lovely experience from start to finish. The staff gave us a warm welcome and then continued to give us efficient, attentive and friendly service throughout our meal. The food was both delicious and excellent value and was very authentically Italian. The fact that it was a relatively limited menu was a plus as it felt as though every dish had been carefully thought through. I loved that it also has vegan options as two of my sons are vegan. I will definitely be back!

We've been meaning to try this place for ages. Right from the phone booking to the welcome on arrival and then through the meal the service was friendly without being fawning. The regional specialties mean you are not looking at the usual local menus of pizzas, pastas and veal. And there is something for vegans, vegetarians and other food requirements. And it was all delicious. A nice wine list, a handful of Italian beers and a beer of the month, which tonight was a double malted Peroni. Perfetto! And in the spirit of hospitality, a couple of complementary liqueurs to was it all down.

My son in law who is Italian loves this restaurant and we decided to go there last Sunday. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Everyone was impressed with the food and wine. I would like to go back and try other dishes as I do love authentic food. You could make this restaurant your "local" if you love Italian food.

Amazing food and service! Our waiter was so knowledgeable and friendly, offering suggestions for both wine & food for our group. The food was amazing and great portion sizes. We had a group of 5 and did the entree & main set each which was greatly priced. We couldn’t even finish it all!
The stand outs were the ragu and the spicy bruschetta. Soo yummy
We finished our lunch with complimentary homemade shots which was so kind
Thank you guys for an awesome experience, we’ll definitely be back!

Great service but the food left us very disappointed.
The restaurant really caters more for vegetarian tastes but we tried the octopus salad which was OK but not special. We then had the pork neck (only non seafood or vego item on menu) It was nicely slow cooked but was just meat, mash potato and a drizzle of pork sauce. It needed more to contrast to the meat and more meat thing.
My wife had a calamari dish that she found too fishy with no other balancing flavours.
We shared a Nutella based small desert that was tasty but again needed some ice cream etc to balance it.
Overall, with a few drinks, we walked out $150 lighter and disappointed.

We were there on Monday and enjoyed the all you can eat menu. Everything was delicious and very tasty. The service was impeccable and friendly. We didn't wait too much even though the place was very busy. The parmigiana eggplant was superb and all the pasta was handmade. Truly an amazing place for Italians like us and Italian food lovers.
