This restaurant is more then just a 'local' in our neighbourhood - under the watchful eye and ever friendly maitre'd, Michael and his staff ensures that you have a memorable dining experience. The menu changes with the seasons and can be best described as French inspired with a twist. The Saveur also played host to a surprise birthday celebration and Michael composed a fabuous cocktail menu elegantly paired with champagne/ wines. He was also very gracious in allowing our daughters to decorate the restaurant. Be sure to check the hanging frames in the entranceway.

The restaurant is situated back from the road with an outside dining area at the front of the restaurant. The inside is beautiful, from the lovely period features, to the ornate ceiling, and the gorgeous chandelier. The menu offers a good selection, too good really. We ended up sharing as I just couldn't decide on what to miss out on. We started with a cocktail while viewing the menu. We chose the chicken liver pâté with fig marmalade, caramelized macadamia & toasts for entree. That was very nice. Moving to the mains, the barramundi fillet oven roasted chorizo ratatouille and the beef Wellington broccoli a la Hollandaise sauce were excellent. Both full of flavor. We finished with the walnut & date pudding, butterscotch sauce & ice cream. The service was fantastic. The staff were very accommodating to our needs, even slicing the beef wellington in half for us so we could both share the meals. It was just too hard to decide on what to order. The staff were there when needed but not intrusive. Very polite and friendly. Sometimes it's the little things that make the experience and here, that's what the staff did. It's just a great restaurant, and a lucky find for us.

We visited Saveur for the first time with friends in November and it will not be our last visit. Restaurant is located in what appears to have been an old house on the northern side of the railway at Roseville and just down from the main shops. The interior dining area was both elegant and stylish and the tables were suitably socially distanced. Menu was heavily French influenced with a choice of dishes from seven entrees and seven mains. Our group of four enjoyed the chicken liver pate, the roast beetroot salad and the seafood medley (crab, prawns and smoked salmon) for entrees. As mains we had the confit of duck a l'órange, the barramundi fillet and the slow cooked pork belly with a mixed leaf salad and some chips. Everyone enjoyed their choices and there were no misses. We were all too full to have dessert. Wine list had a range of French and Australia wines at various price points. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. Cost with two bottles of wine, two bottles of mineral water and four coffees before a tip was $93 pp which we all thought was very reasonable.

I selected this restaurant for a family occasion. Although I've never been there before, I chose it on the strength of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Perhaps the restaurant went through some ownership change or they just have a lot of friends, but based on my experience, I just can't imagine how anybody can homestly think it's an Excellent, or even a Good restaurant. Service staff seemed to be disinterested, unmotivated or in other cases enthusiastic and well-meaning but not competent. Certainly they had not much understanding of the dishes or the drinks. Service was haphazard, with some things coming out quickly, others with much delay. The wine we ordered at the beginning came out way later, by the time we were well into our meals. Salad came out by the time we just about finished our main courses. The soup came out without a spoon, we had to ask for it. Somebody came to take our orders after we already finished our entres. After we already paid and we were getting up to leave, a staff member came and offered to bring the bill. Just a comedy of errors. Another review of this restaurant mentioning Fawlty Towers was right on the mark. There was no genuine French aspect beyond French sounding dishes. The selection on the menu wasn't vast, it all comfortably fitted on one side of one sheet. That would've been alright if dishes on offer were amazing. The ones we had, weren't. There were a few tasty elements but most of what we had was fairly average. My main dish reeked of what I thought may have been disinfectant. I thought it's just me being fussy but I offered some of it to my partner to taste and the response was: "This is terible! Are you sure you want to eat it?" Presentation of the meals were mediocre. So was the ambience with nothing much screaming "French". It also got a bit loud inside, even with reduced density of people (due to COVID restrictions). Some of the above may have been somewhat excusable if it wasn't for the fact that it was all overpriced for what we were getting for about $130 per head. We didn't even bother with desserts, just paid and left. Without going into more disappointing details, it was our first visit and it's going to be our last. There are just much better retaurant options in the wider area, including for French cuisine. Honestly, the good reviews for this restaurant totally baffle me...

We chose Saveur because it was local and the menu had both fish (for me) and meat options (for my husband). Booking was really easy online. We arrived a little early for our booking for were made to feel welcome and given an option of tables (we chose the one by the open fire-it was very romantic)! The interior is beautifully designed and the tables well spaced out so as to not make the rooms feel cramped. The menu was impressive as was the choice of wines and other drinks. Every course was an absolute delight! Portion sizes were perfect and we managed all 3 courses (a rarity). Above everything else, the service was exceptional; the staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. This was our first 'date night' night in a while and we already can't wait to go back!

I was really impressed by the outdoor setting even though it wasn't used on the evening that I went. The indoor dining area was warm and cosy. The well praised service was attentive but not imposing which was what I liked the most. Lobster ravioli was great, so was the duck confit (the kale and orange slice balanced well with the dick itself). My seafood pie was a bit too hot for my liking (even though I prefer food to be hot). Souffle was the least impressive of all as the chocolate tasted smoky unexpectedly Overall, a nice hidden gem in Roseville worth visiting again..

Dining at Saveur was a great way to begin an exit from Covid isolation and celebrate a birthday. We enjoyed the amuse bouche and then entree with an impressive pate, excellent escargots and onion soup. Mains chosen by us included individual beef wellingtons and confit duck followed by wonderful deserts and cheese. With pre dinner drinks , wine and food it was a great meal in a lovely surrounding.

This is a lovely local restaurant. Although it's right opposite the station in the Roseville shops, the converted cottage gives this a very homely feel and from the moment you walk in the door you leave the street behind. Service was warm, professional and quick, and they had no problems coping with a gluten free meal. Dishes were based on the French classics, but with a Japanese twist. The amuse bouche was a nice touch, and possibly the highlight of the night. The Alaska crab starter was a little bland, but the lobster ravioli was superb. The burrata on the main course tuna was strange, but both fish main courses were well cooked and we had a nice meal and a lovely night out. The wine list was very good, and very reasonably priced - no need for BYO here.

Every time we eat here the high quality of food and wines are always outstanding. Saveur has a great cosy atmosphere and the ability to eat outside if you choose even in winter with outdoor heaters. The service staff are excellent and you always see the same familiar faces over the years we have been enjoying Saveur. And of course the owner, Michael, is always there to greet you and make sure everything goes smoothly. Can’t recommend more highly.

Had the Degustation menu with matching wines Was a treat for the senses with a wide array of food such as Snails, beef, sashimi, pasta and soups just to name a few of the dishes. The matching wines were well coordinated. We booked late so only got the outside tables. It was under cover and protected but unfortunately was next to a rather large and loud group of people. That did effect the ambiance of our romantic one-on-one but to some degree, we paid the price for a late reservation. Service was just right and all went well apart from our noisy table neighbours. Check out photos. Delicious.

We went again after many years, to celebrate my wife's birthday. This time we werew welcomed by the owner who directed to our table & we received our menus from a waiter dressed in jeans & a coarse fabric & leather apron. My wife noticed the dust on the large glass vases adjacent to our table. The service was prompt throughout with frequent refilling of water & our drinks served promptly. Our order was taken & the entré & main courses were quickly served. Both of our entrés & main courses were tasty but very small portions & we were fortunate that we ordered bread & vegetables to suplement the main course. My sweet, creme broulé was a disappointment. It appeared to have been frozen & was not fully defrosted. I told the waitress who seemed shocked &reported it to the kitchen but we had no response. We noticed that once the place was full, the owner disappeared so he may not have been aware of my complaint. The bill for 2 was over $200 & in my opinion not only were the quantities small but the value was poor.

Dear Leo Sommerich or Ozyleo, I will pay you a million dollars, MILLION DOLLARS, if we serve frozen crème brûlée. Do you know your review on TripAdvisor and Facebook (you also put your review on Facebook) are defamatory? As an older adult, it's a pity how ignorant you are of our dining culture. You and your dear wife both liked, enjoyed, and licked all the food we served.! Including the crème brûlée, which customers saying the best crème brûlée in town. It would be best if you lived up to your name, `Leo` - generous, sunny, and big-hearted. Instead of complaining, picking on, and winging? Regards, Michael Chun

It was our anniversary and we had take-away dinner from Saveur. We delighted in delicious, very garlicky and very fresh prawns and superb lobster with garlic butter. The lobster was cut in easy to eat pieces and presented with some greens. The chips that we had on the side were perfectly done. For desert, the crepes were oh so sweet and delightful and a perfect match for the Affogato with Fra Angelico which we love and the restaurant prepared on request. We relaxed at home and had some great champagne with the meal - lockdown can be very enjoyable.

Some of my Favourite Restaurants are situated in Old Houses, But in the case of SAVEUR, the food is not home-cooked, it's Fine Dining without the hefty price tag. Crab Salad, Miso soaked Tuna, were my favourites. it's BYO so 4 Adults less than $50.00 a head, hard to beat. For any occasion, Perhaps just to please your Partner,

I recently hosted a family 80th birthday celebration at Saveur and the owner & chef Michael Chun was so helpful and accommodating. The food was beautiful and on par with a fine dining restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive and the venue had a gorgeous European feel, creating a home dining experience. I would definitely recommend Saveur for either a small booking or a larger gathering. I will be back again!!

We have eaten here several times and have always been very happy with the food and service. This week they celebrate Bastille day and we took the opportunity to enjoy the bouillabaisse - perfect. Good variety of fresh tasting seafood in a delicious broth. The rest of our lunch was also most enjoyable and Michael was ever so helpful.
