Nothing technological or fancy about Jim’s just simple yummy Greek food. Popular with young old & families. It may have been decades between visits but worth it.

I had been there several times so I was prepared to bring several bottles of wine with us. Loved the saganaki, then the pan fried scallops came next…quite generous servings, I was looking forward to the grilled octopus but then a fantastic flounder dish came along - it was massive and beautifully cooked. It was so tasty and got us full before we could eat the grilled Octopus. A good Greek experience though we would’ve like to choose specific dishes so not to overeat.

The restaurant is quaint and noisy: somehow authentically Greek. The food is tasty and comes in generous portions. The service is unpretentious, friendly and quick. The waiters explain what is on offer, as there is no menu. The restaurant is popular with the locals, which is why a reservation is highly recommended.

Food and experience were absolutely fantastic. We felt like we experienced an authentic Greek meal without actually going to Greece. Highly recommend eating here.

We booked a table for our group of three couples on Saturday evening. The place was crowded as we struggled to get through the dense table layout in the large rear "hall". We were immediately stunned by the horrendous cacophony of loud noise. Waiters were rushing in all directions. One waiter bumped hard into one of the ladies in our party as we were trying to "get to" our table...he just kept going without the slightest apology. There were NO serviettes on our table. NO menus were available to patrons....and NO paper towels (or hand dryer) in the washroom. When we asked the waiter to tell us what items were on the menu, we could not hear a word he was saying because of the unbearable surrounding noise. There were NO alcoholic drinks available except for house red or house white wine. Our Salad did not arrive, so we had to remind the waiter who finally brought it WELL AFTER our meat, blue eye and calamari dishes. They forgot our order for mineral water, that we had to remind the waiter about. Our mineral water arrived WELL AFTER we had finished our meals. They also forgot about our order for Greek Sausage, which did NOT arrive at all. As we sat at our table, the noise level ACTUALLY HURT. The food was reasonable...BUT our dining experience was destroyed by the poor service and BRUTAL TSUNAMI of decibels!! VERY disappointing. Will NOT return.

This is my favourite restaurant in Melbourne. It is very popular so it is a good idea to book, even on a Wednesday night. My friend introduced me to this restaurant in 2006 and we always come back whenever I visit Melbourne. There is no menu so you tell your server what you would like to have and he suggests items. My friend and I both enjoyed our food. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I cant believe all the negative reviews of this place. We were a party of 7 - sure the table was a little tight but who can blame a restaurant for trying to fit as many as possible in in these times? And fit them in they did. Monday night and the place was packed. The food was great - like everyone we were asked if we liked meat or seafood - We said both! Both were terrific. Entree's came out - dips and a mix of pickled and fried veggies and beautiful warm bread (perhaps a bit too much! Shortly after the mains arrived. The meat (Lamb Cutlets, Lamb Souva and Beef Skewers were all beautiful and tender, perfectly seasoned as well. The Seafood (Blue Eye and Calamari) were also delicious. The salad was fresh but perhaps a little underwhelming- lots of shredded lettuce ( a little out of the ordinary in the greek salads I have had before) and not much feta or olives and tomato - or onion come to think of it. There was however, heaps of food and we all left very full. We only paid $45 per head for this absolute feast - It would have been good value still at twice that. Sure it was noisey but if thats the only issue I'm happy to deal with it. I for one would not hesitate to go back - in fact my mouth is watering now as I write this.

I was blown away by how good this place is! Melbourne is a fantastic food town, and this hidden oasis just might be one of its crown jewels! I asked locals where to go for great, authentic Greek food, and every single one pointed me here. I'm so glad they did! I ate way too much and had all excellent food. It felt like I was back in Greece on holiday! Servers were super nice, price was very reasonable, and I don't award 5 stars for nothing. In fact, why are you still reading this review?! Just go there!

Having previously enjoyed the array of food 4 years ago as an interstate visitor, I looked forward to the meal. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing to a group of 8 people. Overall the banquet offer was very salty, the dips, ordinary vegetables and lots of bread as starters, followed by small piece of fish, halloumi, some prawns (1 each) and calamari. Previously, we had a choice of sea food or meat but this time a large platter of unattractively presented various red meats, generally very salty, was placed on the table on a large platter. For$75/ head, the meal could have been had at a take away or pub for less, including wine. Instead $600 for 8 people who were very disappointed in the taste, quality and offerings. The room was noisy and it was difficult to be heard if talking to our group. Won’t be returning!

Usually has been a staple of Collingwood, but sadly it’s not what it was. Food subpar; service poor and extremely expensive $75 set (they seem to discourage you from not ordering the set $75 banquet?) . Very disappointing experience.

Extremely rude staff. Upon entering the restaurant we were almost scowled at and waved away in the direction of the large room at the back. It was packed with diners and ridiculously noisy too. Everyone had to shout to be heard. The bread and dips were nice but the rest of the food was only average; we had whiting, calamari, a mixed grill and salad. We were offered lemon potatoes which didn't arrive although they were on the bill. Glad we didn't order the $75 set menu. I can't believe it is so popular. It was chaos.

It was the most crowded and noisiest place I have been to. There is no Menu. The waiter comes quickly and brings water, if you want alcohol you have to go over the road to the bottle shop, and then says he will bring starters, followed by fish or meat. Some Dips and crudites arrive with warm bread rolls. Very nice. Before you could finish some Saganaki had also arrived. We then chose Octopus and Grilled Whiting and a salad. The Octopus was a little under cooked and chewy but the Grilled Whiting was to die for. Best we have ever eaten. Whole fish with head but slit and filleted. No Bones. It was fantastic. You receive only one small plate each and that has to last through all the courses. There must have been 200 people all crowded in. Obviously they all love the place and the food. They are highly organised. They don't do coffee. Cost $100. If it wasn't for the noise we would go back.

Amazing Greek food and hospitality! Thursday night and the restaurant was full and with good reason. The food was delicious and just kept coming. It was like I was invited to someone's house for a Greek feast. Thank you.

Our son booked here for my birthday as he knows I love Greek food. He warned us no menus. Our table was right by the walk way to the upper level so I moved my seat a little out of the way. Noooo, waiter came and said must sit as they had laid. There is very little room between tables. We got asked if we wanted saganaki, yes. Want octopus, yes. A large basket of delicious warm bread and a plate of dips and crudités arrived. Then the saganaki, it was nice but having eaten saganaki around Greece, my husband and I questioned if it was the authentic cheese. The octopus arrived, delicious. The place considering it was a Wednesday night was rammed to the rafters. I asked for a second bottle or water, the waiter did give us another with a very dirty look. We decided on the meat platter. OMG so much meat. It was delicious. My only complaint was the Greek salad. A bowl of shredded lettuce, very little tomato, cucumber, olives, Feta, didn’t see any onion or capsicum and drowned in olive oil. There is no lettuce in a Greek salad!!!!! We asked for take away containers for the leftover meats as we were full and the bill. Took half an hour to get them. I would go back again as aspects of it reminded us of our Greek holidays.

We don’t like having to shout at our guests to be heard. Reduce noise by putting foam from Clark Rubber under chairs, tables if owners interested in their customers.
