Booked here to meet friends from New Zealand staying nearby.... we drove from Sussex.... All a bit disappointing... menu looked good online, pretty looking building etc, seemed like a good spot but a complete lack of enthusiasm to accommodate even the smallest changes to the menu were turned down (Ham Egg and chips on the menu... asked for just egg... This was my first stay at the Bell and I'm pleased I did. The room I'm stopping in is modern, clean with a large flatscreen tv and great shower. We had a steak for dinner which was lovely. The bar/restaurant is chilled and the bar staff were friendly. I will definitely stop again

The food was good but the service a bit over the top and looking at the menu a bit pricey and over the top for lunch. Could do with a bar menu. I know on race days it would be busy. It was very nice and warm inside.

We went again to our local. To start with we has Haggis and Yorkshire pudding to share..We enjoyed this but felt less would have been better with the addition of Neeps...We did not want as much for a starter. delicious though it was. Next we had our main , as ever with a fine selection of veg. They no longer... More

Service slow. Food ok but not great. Boss/manageress rude to her staff. I had the curry which was obviously thickened with cornflour or something rather than tomatoes. My husband had the haddock which was cooked beautifully. The whole experience was spoiled by then boss who was rude to her staff twice in my hearing. I left about a third of... More

Met up with a friend for Sunday lunch and this pub was midway for us. they could not have made us more welcome. Lovely log fire, great service. We had the starters of prawn cocktail and scallops, followed by the Big Bell Inn lunch - roast chicken, beef and ham - massive portions. This was followed by a meringue dessert.... More

Went here for a meal on Xmas bank holiday Tuesday with family. the food was lovely and well enjoyed by all but found the waiting staff to be quite rude as she did not ask if anyone would like any sauces with our lunch and when asked ignored the person asking. Once her attention was caught it took a good... More

We had booked for a Christmas meal which was outstanding!, all the trimmings and all three courses delicious! Pefect! The Staff worked so hard to make this evening a great one! Thank... More

We were visiting friends close by and they suggested The Bell to stay overnight. (Handy also for Newmarket racing.) The room was in a newly built block next to the hotel. The bed was comfortable, storage adequate and the en suite very good. Free WiFi available. However, even though the heating was turned off, the insulation was very efficient resulting... More

We meet with friends from London in The Bell Inn Kennett Newmarket on Sunday 9th October, the six of us have meet there before, as the meal was very good. On this particular day we were given the round table in the window, that's ok but, the sun came through the window and it got very hot, there were blinds... More

Good Afternoon Anne, Thank you for your review. I apologise if you self the lady who enquired about the blind was rude, it certainly was not meant to be the case. As you pointed out yourself it is a rather dark old building and hard to light, Sheena was concerned that maybe the bling had slipped down or another customer... More
