I’ve only recently found this little gem. Have been here a few times and the food is consistently delicious. The menu looks pretty simple (eg beef brisket with slaw) but the flavours are complex and unusual. If you want to keep it light you can,...but I just can’t go past the salted rosemary fries. The “small” serve is quite generous. They have dessert but I’m always too full to try it! The red wines are consistently good as well. Service is friendly and excellent. You’ll find it set back from Goodwood Rd, tucked away on Rochester Ave (opp Chemist King car park).More

This place has become our local favourite. The food is always fantastic and the service polite and generous. Last night we had beef brisket and chargrilled chicken with a tomato salad and a glass each of pinot grigio. Almost more than we could eat and...all simply delicious.More

This is a small modern cafe/bistro that serves delicious meals. Specialising in charcoal bbq. The prices are small the serves are big and the service is friendly. What mire do you need?. Note that the menu is small. Thats a plus. Our table of did...over order a bit, not realising their generous served. Chips are a must. Small drinks list with craft beers and local wines are well thought out and at refeshingly modest prices. Well done Blackbird !!More

The food was excellent and the service as well. Had the squid, it was so delicious. Husband had the salmon and it was so good. The chips were so crispy and tasty Will be going back again. We live 5 minutes away and I can...see this becoming our local eat out.More

Another one of our local favourites and definitely a hidden gem. The food is always delicious, fresh, and generously portioned. Service is excellent and their prices are ridiculously good (I've almost considered suggesting that they charge a little bit more!). Believe the reviews—Black Bird is...superb.More

Visited for dinner. Despite two larger tables having arrived after us and having their orders taken before ours, we received our meals first. Delectable blend of flavours and textures in the squid with black rice. My husband enjoyed his pork belly. Small, but excellent, wine...list. We took up the dessert offer and shared a sticky date pudding. Warm atmosphere, good temperature, well priced. Have always had an excellent meal and friendly, professional service at Blackbird.More

Having eaten here several times our favourite is certainly the squid with black rice. Other notables are the pulled beef brisket and the side greens. We're gluten free so our options are reduced a bit but we still love the food and the chefs and...staff always try to see what else they can do to make a dish GF friendly. Great family owned and run restaurant and with the covid-19 restrictions in place - We're now dropping in for a takeaway or 2. Get out there and support them folks.More

Just up the road...lucky for us! This family run gem delivers delish chargrilled meats and plants that are generous and good value. We're glad they are still doing take away and it tastes just as good at home. Our favourite is the squid-so tender! I...think it'll become a regular dinner over the coming months. Keep up the good work guys!More

Personally, I think the food was a bit salty but could be improved. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and service here. Will definitely come back.
