If you’ve never had Lonches you have to try them. Oh so good. They are fried bread with meat, lettuce, avocados, and cheese. They bring out a plate of fried onions to add if you want. Yum. They cook outside but the restaurant is inside.

Made to order, fresh, tasty and great service. The front of the restaurant looks small, just walk to the back where there are tables to enjoy your lonches, and ask for onions. It was easy to find, right on the main road. Our first time...having lonches and first time going over the bridge to Nuevo Progreso. Loved it!More

Don't miss out on the Lonches. This is a must go every time we are in Nuevo Progresso! We eat here a few times a month and it never disappoints!

Super fresh lightly fried rolls filled with bits of beef, cabbage, cilantro, avocado and queso fresco. Onions on the side and a limon. Five to an order for $5.75. Easy to split but if you like onions ask for some extra and an extra fork....Order Joya Apple Soda to go with it for another treat. Quick service! Bring cash.More

The Iguana House was a little hard to find but well worth the search. The couple we were with and maybe even my wife were a little skeptical of eating here based solely on my opinions of the reviews I had read on a few...sites but we were all pleased with our meals. I'll admit the signage is mostly lacking and the frontage is a narrow opening filled with the cook station but the rear of the restaurant is quiet, air conditioned and the tables clean. Look at the photos before you go and it will help you find it. We talked to another group of six that were already eating and they said they'd been coming back for 8 years. The waiter was polite and accommodating. Having read the reviews beforehand my wife and I ordered two separate versions of the lonches, she had chicken, I had steak. The bolillos were warm and fragrant with a yeasty smell, the meat in both versions was diced and nicely cooked. There were 5 lonches on each order and we were both full when we left. Neither version was spicy but a spicy verde sauce was in a bottle on the table and the waiter brought us a small plate of sauteed onions. The lonches come with lettuce and slices of avocado and we opted for the queso fresco cheese. The couple we were with ordered tacos and we traded with them for one of our lonches so we could all try a bit of each others food. The tacos were very good but I would certainly go back for the lonches. My thanks to the other reviewers for encouraging me to try the lonches at the Iguana House and I hope I've encouraged you to try some. The Iguana House is located below Chuy's Red Snapper on the east side of the street about 3 or 4 blocks south on the main street.More

Stopped in with a group of 6, and we all had the Lonches. They were absolutely the best we've had in Progreso. We've tried them elsewhere, and there is no comparison. We split 4 orders, between the 6 of us, and that was plenty. Prices...are very good, service was great, beer is cold. Don't be fooled by the looks from the street, it's clean, and cooler in the restaurant area.More

Found this little dive with help of kind people we asked about good places to eat. The lonchas are excellent, especially the chicken ones.

We always have to leave room to stop and eat here. AC inside, enough sitting area and friendly staff. I don't eat meat but I still get their tacos as is but with lots of avocado and chila cheese to replace the meat. Hubby gets...bistek tacos.More

Have eaten here a number of times, and always have the Lonches, which are Bollio buns filled with a few choices of fillings. Buns are fresh, warm and very tasty, can be filled with Chipped Beef, Chicken, or Ground Beef. Cilantro, avocado, lettuce, cheese, onions...and limes are all available. You get 5 of these little stuffed buns for $6. Don't let the street appearance deter you from enjoying this authentic, albeit, small restaurant. Beer was cold, and the service is always friendly and helpful. A unique experience!More
