We visited the Hanging Gate after it was recommended to us by a local Ramblers Group. It is well worth a visit. Very comprehensive Pensioners Menu from which we made our choice. I had the liver and it was delicious. Proper mashed potato and very well cooked vegetables. Other half had lasagne and really enjoyed it. Really excellent value Service... More

I love English breakfast, it's not often you find a place that cooks it to perfection, I was surprised by the size of the plate. It was worth every penny. I'll be back soon.

Forth visit in 8 months. It was the worst. We both had Lamb Shoulder, which in the past had been fine. However on this occasion it was overcooked and dry. Carrots had no flavour.

Come here every few months as a treat, never disappointed. Great service by Mark & co. I highly recommend the Au Poivre sauce for the steak - it is to die for.

The food is average. Frozen Chips, etc, but the decorations are unbelievable, and it is usually wall to wall people. regular menu has a mixed grill that is HUGE. Desserts always beautifully presented with lashings of whipped cream. My Husband likes the mixed grill or the home made Steak pie. I struggle with what to have-its like going back to... More
