Arrived in the hills mid afternoon on a balmy spring day at 3.02pm to be told the kitchen had closed at 3pm. After telling the young enthusiastic barman we were starving and just wanted a plate of chips to tide us over till dinner and line our stomachs before we hit the numerous ciders on offer. He approached the kitchen to satisfy our needs and came out with an order of chips to go with our very reasonably priced tasting paddle. We sat on one of the high bar tables in the sun overlooking the beautiful valley of orchid apple trees and watched the world go by whilst enjoying our chips and wonderful flavours of Core Ciders ciders. We didn’t experience a lunch meal here but I could imagine if the food is as good as the location it would be well worth trying. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Would love to come back for lunch in the future.

Went to Core Cider House with a group of friends as we had heard of it but not been there. Arrived about 12.30 and managed to get a parking spot near the entrance o parking is at toimes a bit of a premium with overflow parking at a local church about 150 metres up the road. Arrived early but the table was available and we were shown to the table. The serving person was delightful and she was quite helpful and attentive. The variety on the menu whilst not huge offers enough variety. My wife and I chose the chickn beetroot salad which was deightful and our other 2 friends chose the fish and the steak. The restaurant area is on a raised area overlooking the cider garden and actual orchards. I also ordered the Ginger Beer cider whoch was absolutely delightful. Overal a really good lunch and afternoon spent simply eating, drinking cider and relaxing. Even though not on the main drag of Perth (it is in the hills) it is very much worth the drive to Pickering Brook. Recomended.

Finally had time to visit Core cider house on the last Sunday of the Xmas break. Was very busy but plenty of places to sit on grass or in the outdoor chairs. Live band playing which was excellent. The apple and ginger by far our favourite. Would highly recommend booking in the restaurant if you want a descent meal as the snacks are very basic and served from a caravan at the other side of the grass. Very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Will be back for sure.

In the past the food has been excellent. It became a reliable restaurant to bring our friends. So we went again yesterday for a 50th birthday lunch. What has happened to the menu? It has been changed to a table d'hote dining with the tiniest of portions. I ordered the italian sausage entree and was presented with 3 little slices of sausage. The space on the plate was filled with bread, olives and some sort of bitter dip that tasted like a type of under-cooked baba ganoush. One of kids at our table ordered a pasta which was bland and tasted like it had been defrosted and that comment was made by the child! It was served in a tiny bowl and charged $20 for the privilege. Previously we have always been impressed with the presentation, choice and portions at the Core, but for now, there are other restaurants to try.

Share plate generous but you will be ‘disappointed’ if need gluten free. My friends decided we would do a share plate. On It arriving at the table I requested a serve of gluten free bread. They don’t have it ??? Eating globs of Camembert cheese or caramelised onion off a fork was disappointing and the dip was out of the question. The chips and coffee were cold on arrival at the table. Up side - beautiful surround. Staff was very obliging. Cider great !

We ate at their Orchard Bistro which we found to be "Rough and Ready" The table felt sticky, it was not 'set', instead the cutlery is in a basket at the end of the table. During our two course service, there was not enough cutlery and there was no napkins which we had to ask the waitress for - really??? We were a family group of 7 adults. The food was presented well but it's the taste that is important. It was fairly bland but this is likely to be because all our dishes had been reheated except for the vegetables. Not only did this cause the taste to be bland but the colour was bland as well. The food was only lukewarm. My entree was a mini grazing platter which was supposed to include some warm sourdough. What I received were four small slices of bread that was so dry, they would have been perfect as croutons in a soup. The rest of it was good. They will charge you if you make a booking and have to cancel within 48 hours.

Great sharing board and tasting paddle. We went here for lunch, chose a sharing board of meats , prawns, salad cheese , hummus etc. It was very tasty. The Cider paddle a collection of 5 ciders to taste also very good. The views from the restaurant are great and encourages you to nest and enjoy for a while. I would recommend this to any friends.

Great garden area, good cider. All let down by the pizza from the cider garden area. Pizzas were extremely disappointing. Very sloppy and bland. Given the cost, would have expected something with flavour. The other food options were unavailable other than chips at $10 for a small basket.

The restaurant and the grounds were beautiful, the service friendly and quick. The lunch meals came in 2- or 3- course sets. Based on what the group ordered, I liked the Core Grazer for entree and the lamb for Mains. We ordered the tasting paddle which was good value as most of our 6 (+2kids) -member group didn't drink alcohol. Overall a very nice experience. We had made reservations many months ahead, otherwise, there was no chance to have a meal here during the Christmas season.

Booked ahead , which is essential , and arrived on a crisp but sunny day. Menus were already on the table so we set about choosing because the staff was very efficient. I chose fish of the day , which was kingfish and it was beautifully presented with the dauce to the side. For desert I had the sticky date pudding. Yummy. You have 2 set choices:A main and dessert / an entree and main or Entree and dessert. The ambience of the setting was fantastic , looking out over the apple trees and valley. A 40 minute drive from Ellenbrook , but able to take Tonkin Highway right through to Welshpool Rd before turning towards the hills.

My husband and I spent a beautiful afternoon at the Core Cider House. The Food selected from the 3 course menu was delicious and the presented beautifully. We couldn't fault the service we had extra plates brought to us without asking from very attentive and friendly staff. It has fast become our favorite place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Visited this establishment for a family meal. Service was far from acceptable with staff flitting between many tables. Had to ask for table to be wiped after a previous occupant. Food was very small proportions & served randomly rather than entree & main courses staggered. Barramundi serve was so small that it could have passed an an entree size. Cost was certainly charged at a main course price. I'm sure that their aim was to delay meal servings to increase the bar trade. Seating was barely acceptable.

Had lunch here today, Wed, and had booked in advance and requested a window seat to get best view of their gorgeous grounds and we got a perfect table. View is lovely, gardens are beautifully tended and working orchards provide a perfect outlook. Fixed price menu of 3 courses for $65 with several choices was great value, tasty food, just the right proportioned servings, staff were friendly and professional. Hard to see where to improve. I have no doubt it gets packed out on weekends, especially in summer, so suggest booking, especially for an edge table. Will be back.

Haven’t been here in some months so decided to take visitors there on a cooler day. We chose the Harvest room for chacuterie platter ,a tasting paddle of cider and ofcourse chips I was thrilled to see the e we developing menu.Ordering was quite quick at the counter however delivery was.very slow after 45.mins drive to the restaurant we were hungry and anxious to eat !Staff are friendly but seemed to have trouble finding their table numbers Overall this is still a great outing Lots of optionsfrom fancy restaurant to pizza and ice cream and plenty of lawns to sit on if you don’t want to go into the restaurants themselves

We sat under the shade, as it was a sweltering day, you needed shade and there were no shortage of parasols. The food portions are big, it tastes delicious and of course drinking the ciders was beautiful with the meals. Service was excellent, even though they had a big party going on at the same time.
