Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Busy little location on the sea front with tables inside and out. Not the biggest place which is why there is often a queue. Quirky interior with little knick-knacks scattered about. Nothing on the menu really jumped out at me, average- sounding sandwiches, soups and mains. I got the cullen skink soup which was mostly potato pieces and a few bits of onion. The soup was quite oily rather than creamy. The bread roll that came with the soup was quite small but it had been warmed. My dad got the soup of the day which was a sweet potato, carrot and chilli soup. He said it was quite sweet but other than that not very flavourful. Prices were average for the soups but seemed quite steep for a simple sandwich or main meals. Paying mostly for location rather than quality.

Booked dinner for 4 people on New years Eve. We were visitors to the area and had been advised to come here. As this was a busy time of year for the venue, we pre-ordered our meal by e-mail before arriving in Stonehaven. The meal was great as was the service. the cocktails not too shabby either. All in all an excellent meal was had by all.

A very popular and busy cafe situated on the beach front with glorious views over the bay. We enjoyed a delicious lunch. If, like me, you enjoy Cullen Skink, you won't be disappointed but I would advise you buy it as a soup and sandwich combo, great value and delicious. V friendly and helpful staff, patient with my elderly relatives. I'm not certain but I think that dogs are welcome...10/10

Called in last night for a beer, and were made very welcome by the staff. Sat outside with a stunning waterside view of the bay. Liked it so much we came back for breakfast which was of a very high quality, well presented and served on hot plates. Would definitely recommend this place.

I’m not usually one for leaving poor reviews but in this case I wouldn’t be doing the owners any favours by not posting this. If they continue to send out such an appalling standard of overpriced breakfasts then they’ll be out of business before they know it.
Supposedly ‘Poached eggs’ that were harder than hard boiled eggs. Hollandaise sauce that either had too much butter or had separated. Worst of all was the traditional breakfast - which most ingredients had been deep fried!!! Deep fried potato scones, bacon and haggis. Just awful.
I’m afraid we won’t be back until reviews improve.

Went for breakfast with my husband, as we use to love this place on weekends.
The food arrived called, full breakfast was cold, mushrooms undercooked..my husband had cold pancakes, with a spoon of berries and a bit of yoghurt.. the presentation was just shocking for the price.
Our drinks arrived after we finished eating.
I do understand cost is rising but come on, portion down sized, cold served, menu have 5 items it’s just shocking.
And the worst there was 4 staff for 9 tables!!!!
While girl behind the bar was struggling with serving drinks the rest was standing watching, no team work whatsoever
Very disappointing!!!
Won’t be back

A perfect place for breakfast, coffee, lunch, dinner and a family party for 30!
The location, decoration and atmosphere is delightful with it’s beautiful views of the beach, it’s fun quirky decor, friendly staff and great food.
We have visited Molly’s several times since returning to Stonehaven for many occasions these past few months and have not been disappointed.
Breakfast, whether a Sunday vegetarian breakfast, a salmon benedict or an eggie softie they are all freshly made and tasty. We also enjoy the lovely brewed coffee with a wee biscuit, all together are simply delicious.
Lunch has a popular selection of soups, sandwiches, mains and desserts. The Cullen Skink was full of fresh fish and the best my husband has had. The tasty sticky toffee pudding was well, sticky toffee pudding, need I say more? The staff kindly put a candle on it for my father-in-law’s 86th birthday.
Dinner has not disappointed us, the chef changes the menu often and it caters for all dietary needs. We asked for the scallops and black pudding dish to be prepared lactose free and it was returned to our son served with a delicious herb sauce instead.
PARTY PLACE, the perfect place for a party! Janice and her team took great care of everything for our family wedding welcome party for 30. The menu choices were delicious, the staff helpful and friendly and the layout perfect for celebrating with family.
We highly recommend Molly’s.

Had been intending to try out this cafe for one of their evening weekend meals. Very glad we did and would highly recommend. Service was impeccable, easily matching fine dining experiences. Our steak frites deal for two was very good value with high quality pieces of steak cooked to perfection. A clever use of mirrors simply adds to the ambience with a lovely view along to the harbour.

Really disappointed with the food here - my third visit in a couple of weeks (no other options open), so had hoped it was a one off, but clearly not. Vegan option of feta, rocket and olive salad was £12.95. Asked for without olives - they took away some, but left those on the bottom. No vegan feta (which is very easy to buy), just a few ripped up bits of sliced vegan cheese. I'd guess one tomato, couple of bits of cucumber, and what seemed like bagged salad (the type with all the end bits that taste awful). Tasteless, cheap ingredients and no presentation. A few nuts and seeds, some apple, would have helped a lot, but it was clearly just thrown together. Dreadful.
Asked for no chocolate on cappuccino - came with chocolate on top.
Friend has a similar disappointing option.
As others have said, no one at any point asked how the meal was, not at the table or when paying.

On route, we stopped for a cuppa not realising it was almost noon and so opted to have some lunch. I was delighted with my bowl of Cullen Skink which had lovely chunks of smoked haddock & potatoes in a delicious creamy stock. My husband opted for a fish finger butty - a nice bun with three hand cut & breaded fingers of fish and a generous portion of chips.
We would certainly consider returning to Molly’s if we found ourselves in the area

Stopped in on way back to Glasgow today for a leg-stretching stroll along the beach and a lunch stop with the family. Hot chocolate and tea took the chill off, followed by a mix of toasties and sandwiches with cullen skink and other soup. All really good but the skink particularly stood out. Lovely surroundings with a good mix of customers from toddlers to grannies, we enjoyed staying longer for coffee and cake - the lemon coconut thing is lovely. Nice decor, nice ambience, great staff, lovely setting and views - I'm pretty sure we'll be back.

I took my kids here for lunch and we enjoyed it greatly. The menu is varied, with excellent options for adults and children. The kids meals are £5 for a hot meal plus a drink, which seemed very reasonable. Service was friendly too. Would recommend.

Beautiful setting right on the beachfront. We were met by a very helpful member of staff who showed us to our table outside. She gave us the menu and took our drinks order. The food was delicious and served in no time. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant as they have a variety of food at good prices

We stopped by Molly’s on our first night in Stonehaven. We got the Lemon Sole and Battered Fish and Chips. The Sole was excellent and the battered haddock was crisp with a buttery consistency on the inside. Our only small complaint was the chips being a bit overdone, but that may be the local preference for all we know. Service was excellent and the venue is cozy and inviting.
