My wife and I had the Roast Pork. It was tasteless. The crackling was soft and chewy. When we drew the waitresses attention to that she went of to the kitchen and cm back with some hard (deep fried?) pig fat, which she called crackling. The roast potatoes were soft skinned and did not seem to have been roasted, or... More

It was recommended by my daughter who went with a friend the week before. They were providing a special deal in February of two main meals for the price of one. We were pleasantly surprised at both the quality and quantity of the food provided. and the staff were polite and attentive. The building had been tastefully extended combining a... More

This was our first visit to a Bel and the Dragon - the traditional oldy worldly pub with low ceilings had many different cosy seating areas with a couple of welcoming log fires. We were there for lunch and the bar menu had buy one main, get one free. I selected the fish pie which was absolutely delicious. My daughter... More

Our 4 person party shared a meal Friday evening at Bel & Dragon which we chose after a delightful Sunday brunch a year ago. Unfortunately, the evening meal let us down a bit. The menu seems odd; lots of unrelated and limited choices and it felt as though the menu could do with a change. The fish pie ordered by... More

It is a while since I lunched at Bel & the Dragon, so I must revisit. The last time I was very impressed. The food was excellent and the service friendly, but professional.

Popped in for an early Saturday evening supper. We shared the steak, supposedly enough for two or three, but could actually feed a family. Lovely crunchy fat chips and we ordered a few side dishes, which were my only disappointment as the were a bit measly, tasted good though! Despite the generous steak we still had pudding, tarte tatin and... More

Popped in for a coffee with a friend as she told me I would really like the decor & ambience. Staff friendly, beautiful setting. Saw that the couple next to us were eating a really tasty looking dessert, we asked the v. friendly & helpful waiter what it was & ordered one! It was a baked alaska, I'd never had... More

It used to be a lovelly cozy old world pub, one of the oldest in Britain, then they made it into a modern 'plasticy' feel and the interior desighner really should look for another job. Fortunatly the restaurant still retains its ambiance, and still searves fantastic food, but not cheap, so I now go to the pub opposite, that has... More

Description
One of the oldest Coaching Inns in England, Bel & The Dragon Cookham sits on the village's picture postcard High Street, a short walk from the Thames Path and under a 30 minute drive from Central London.Following wholesale refurbishment, Bel & The Dragon combines 600 years of history with the best in modern British cuisine. The menu is created by award-winning Head Chef, Ronnie Kimbugwe, who previously spent 7 years with Gordon Ramsay and was most recently the Senior Sous Chef of Gordon Ramsay at Claridges. His passion for the finest seasonal fare, sourced from local & sustainable ingredients, is immediately obvious. It is also complemented by the inclusion of a rotisserie for the very best Roast Chicken, Creedy Carver Duck or the signature spit roasted Suckling Pig.And then there is the Josper Grill, which cooks at up to 600°C and is compared to an indoor barbeque- since it has transformed restaurant kitchens forever, with early converts already including Gordon Ramsay at the Savoy Grill and Heston Blumenthal at Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental.Wine lovers are warmly welcome to enjoy one of the best cellars in Berkshire, stocked with only the best vintages at extraordinary prices. The special Cellar list has been created to provide amazing value for money between £55- £95 per bottle, for some of the best wines ever produced.
