Hey, just order the American Breakfast, fried, coffee. You get bread, butter, jam, coffee, fruit smoothie, eggs, all done well for a few bucks. Friendly, helpful owner and staff, view of the river, next to important vendors and everybody knows where it is. You can...More

I do not understand the hype. My sandwich was inedible and the hamburger a thin piece of meat from a roll of processed meat - not a real carne molida. The bread was microwaved and gummy. I got terribly sick afterwards, so suspect it was not...More

I’m sorry to read your comment and I´m very sorry that you did not enjoy the food. The meat that we use in the hamburgers is real carne molida. We prepare the hamburger meat with lot´s of care, because we know about the touchines of...More

This Cafe is centrally located by the river and malecón. It's on the ground floor of a great hotel, all too convenient. You can grab all sorts of breakfast but I highly recommend the "Kayakero" which includes a full avocado per serving. Coffee was well...More

Big menu yet nothing I could really get excited about. Definitely pricier than most places in town. The info there looked pretty out of date, and no bus times as the guide book said there was. Nice atmosphere I guess, well when they're not doing...More

Cafe Tortuga is my go-to place for breakfast in Tena. Especially, if I am looking for something other than breakfast continental or americano. They have great pancakes, crepes, fruit dishes. Most importantly real coffee and not instant coffee that is often served for breakfast in...More

We went to this cafe twice in two days. Food was very nice, good menu with local and European food -you can eat salads here as all their water is filtered. Reasonably priced. Swiss owned, books for sale -secondhand and new, right by the river....More

I love this little cafe. Diego makes the best jugo de mora in all of Ecaudor. The place is clean, and super welcoming for gringas. My favorite part about Cafe Tortuga is the wonderful staff. I spent almost 2 months in Tena, and I loved...More

We had a good time here, drinking iced coffees and milkshakes during a hot afternoon. And some good beers with nachos on another day. Well recommended!

I stayed next door at Hostal Brisa Del Rio and ate at Cafe Tortuga every morning. Im the type of person that likes to try new things, but when you stumble upon perfection why not stock to it! Delicious menu. Amazing service. Wifi availability.

Description
Fight on the riverfront is Cafe Tortuga, a favorite foreigner hangout. This small cafe's charm comes from its attentive staff and simple, good food, including sweet and savory crepes, large sandwiches, soups, avocado stuffed with chicken or cheese, and beef chili. Many come for its yummy and filling breakfasts (served from 7 a.M.), While others come to cool off with an iced coffee, fresh fruit juice or homemade iced tea. There's free WiFi and a book exchange too. Monday-Saturday 7 a.M..-7 P.M., Sunday 7 a.M.-1 P.M.
