Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

By the time I arrived here I was completely over driving and really tired. This was the only real option for dinner and I had been living on sugar for hours ( I had purchased boiled lollies in Koomoonoo at the Big Strawberry). I had...only just, also, the night before, arrived back into the country...so I was slowing down fast. This venue has all the markings of an outback pub... it is rustic, it is basic, it is over due for a makeover... but then the owners have to justify the cost of the makeover. Whatever I ordered I knew there was a risk I would not finish it, so I opted for the cheese garlic bread at $10. Overpriced, but you expect that out in the middle of nowhere. And in it's defence, the serving was quite generous... there were two servings of which I ate one. (I was correct in my assumption that I would not eat much). It was tasty and it satisfied my need to eat. The staff here are all on contracts from overseas... exploring our country and falling in love with each location they visit. I found it fascinating to hear the young ladies journey and what she had seen and what she yet had to see- and how she balanced her need to connect with her family and explore. There is a photograph wall that is of interest showing a bit of history.More

Even on a Sunday night, there was a big crowd of locals, everyone from foul-mouthed old guys to young bohemians, with the staff joining in. Quite an unexpected and enjoyable experience for somewhere so remote. The food was a typical menu of pub foods but...I got a “Mexican” schnitzel that piled jalapeños, guacamole and sour cream on a good parmi with chips and salad. It may have been one of the most expensive things on the menu at $25 but it was very good and very large (definitely not “remote area” pricing here). Pleasant indoor and outdoor areas.More

We are here last night while staying at the hotel. Hubby had a sirloin steak and I had the fettuccini carbonara with chicken. They were both delicious and good sized portions. The patronage grew as the evening wore on with several families arriving for meals...and socialising. Also the meat raffle was on that evening and the next day was the Sheep-shearing competition with gun shearers. Unfortunately we couldn't stay.More

This country pub has a great atmosphere and very welcoming locals who make you feel at home. The restaurant is simply furnished and decorated with photos of the local area in bygone days but the food is definitely worth the drive. My steak was perfectly...cooked with a tasty Dianne sauce and the vegetables were mix of baked and steamed - a welcome change from the chips and salad in many places. David and his partner are very friendly and their service is excellent. It is definitely worth a regular visitMore

What a great Hotel nothing was too much for them. We were travelling with an aged aunty who needed a cup of tea and soup for dinner, not on the menu, but they accommodated her. The meals were hot delicious and affordable. Passing through Ivanhoe...stopp and have a meal you will not be sorry.More

This is what the Australian Outback pub experience is all about. Staff are fantastic, food is good, plenty of beverage options and even raffles on Friday nights to raise some $$ for the local youth centre. So get yourself to the Ivanhoe pub for an...ice cold beer or beverage of choice and have a yarn with the locals.More

2nd visit to this site. This is an outback pub. The pub itself has character and it is a pleasure to spend some time there. Meals are reasonably priced, and of good size. There is a good selection to choose from. While Ivanhoe doesn't have...a lot of venues to choose from, this one is recommended.More

Well priced food, schnitzel and sausages were excellent, chips tasty - veges not so - overcooked and soggy. Having said all that - it is still an oasis in a remote part of NSW.

Visited here on an overnight stay (stayed over the road). The hotel has a nice ambience about it, with seating inside, and on the front veranda. We spent time outside just watching the world go by. The dinner menu was surprising with the range on...offer, Pricing was reasonable, and the portions more than ample. The dining room is comfortable and air conditioned. Staff were friendly. It may be the only pub in town, but it is definitely worth a visit. recommended.More

We loved our stay in Ivanhoe. The pub accommodation was brand new, clean and comfortable. It was handy to have a meal at the hotel at night time and the food was terrific and the beers icy cold.
