We attend this restaurant for our Anniversary and we were more then happy with the wait staff who were attentive and helpful, the lamb rack for two people at $80 was cooked to perfection as were the smashed chat potatoes.
There are a few things that could be attended to make this venue a better experience for example the table we were at was unstable and required a foot on the table base so it was steady and didn’t rock.
There are no bread rolls or bread provided on the table and when asked if any was available the answer was no we don’t do that here.
The toilets were clean but the locks on the doors were broken and seem to have been from a long time, there was a trail of toilet paper leading from the women’s toilet which was there when we arrived and when we left a few hours later.
The decor is very 80’s and could do with an upgrade along with the tables and chairs, this review isn’t a criticism of the venue, just if you are wanting to be known as a fine dining establishment then you need to be one not just have fabulous food and service

Perfectly located restaurant to get the best of the views. Staff were helpful and friendly, but very busy - obviously short-staffed. The meals were served promptly and were plentiful and packed with flavour. You need to pay to get into the Observatory carpark to help with the upkeep of the access road - only a token amount, but nevertheless an added cost.

Amazing views and a great selection of dishes for everyone.
We went for lunch and had the prawn bao buns, chicken bao buns, chicken parmigiana, and spicy garlic bread. Everything tasted great, the bao buns were soft/fluffy texture, generous fillings and decent size. The parmigiana was well portioned and seasoned, and the shoestring fries were delicious. The service was on point, despite being very busy.
Will definitely be back 😊

You start by having to pay to enter this venue. The air conditioning is not working properly so on a hot day (and temperature was 34c) dinning room felt warm and uncomfortable. There is NO table service, one has to order and pay at the cashier and food is served to table by waitress however, without cutlery or glasses for drinks - it is available but you have to go and get it. Food was OK. When asked to have leftover sandwich put in a container I was asked to pay addition .50 cent and when paying there was addition 10% charge for weekend!!!!! All in all a very unpleasant experience of lunch

We waited 45minutes for our drinks order. Food was sparse we left hungry. Very overpriced for what we received. No Vegetables with the $45 steak and a spoonful of sliced potatoes. The table adjacent to us had a serious incident when the gentleman’s chair broke and he hit the floor quite hard on his back. The staff although concerned and apologetic later joked about it to other customers. We spent $400 and still had to pay $10 for parking. If your spending money on food, especially over a certain amount, you shouldn’t have to pay for parking, the fee should be deducted/refunded when settling your bill.
Very disappointed and deflated.

You would think that a plate of $19 nachos would have real avocados and cheese. Not here! The chef must think you cook by opening cans. Also the beef tasted funky so I was a little scared to eat it. Paying for parking was also a little rude. Next time we’ll take a picnic and enjoy the view from one of the free picnic areas around Olinda.

SkyHigh Mount Dandenong is an absolute gem! From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with stunning panoramic views of Melbourne that make the drive totally worth it. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush gardens, lovely pathways, and unique spots like the English Garden and the enchanting SkyHigh Maze.
The bistro is excellent, offering a variety of delicious dishes with fresh ingredients and a selection of drinks. You can dined outside and enjoyed the view alongside your meal. There’s also a cozy indoor seating area, perfect for cooler days. Sunset and evening visits are just magical, as the city lights begin to sparkle below.
If you're in the Dandenong Ranges or just looking for a beautiful day out close to Melbourne, SkyHigh Mount Dandenong should be at the top of your list.

Visited this restaurant after a long time. View is good, ample space. You have to pick a table and menus then go to the counter, place your order for the table with table number and pay in advance (aka takeaway style cafes) But don’t be disheartened, your order is served on the table.
The prices unjustifiably goes with the name of this restaurant SKYHIGH. The Chicken Parma which was fine. Lamb Bau Bun - 2 pcs of (mini) buns stuffed with pulled lamb, grated carrot etc was extremely disappointing considering it was priced at $24.00. An average person could have 4 to 5 such mini buns as mains along with a starter and dessert. Gnocci, sprinkled with prosciutto was okay but again, the portion was good for a starter and was priced at $ 28.00. Aranchini as a starter was nice. Bottled drinks of Yenda Pale Ale, Ginger Beer were fine. A Large Capuccino in served in an extremely large mug however, don't be fooled by the size. The chocolate lava cake was good. We were 3 of us and paid just less than $ 130.00 + $8.00 for Car Park, which is free/complimentary if you visit again.
Would I visit again - Not likely unless the menus are properly amended.
The restaurant/Cafe will probably continue operating profitably due to its location and high tourist turnover, not because of the food that is served.

Upon arriving I actually thought the dining was upstairs these photos are misleading . Thinking since it was a special occasion (my birthday) it be nice to dine there looking out the big windows where there is such a beautiful stunning view, but unfortunately upon booking by phone as I cannot understand technology and could not book online I wasn't told that the upstairs is now a function room and no longer a restaurant. The private function was completely empty and I felt it was a waste sitting there empty all night. I had no choice but to dine downstairs where the new location is now. Half of the restaurant had no windows and no views the other half had a small view, but I didn't think it done justice. I had booked to be seated opposite a window where it had a small view and I guess it was something, and I couldn't complain. I believe that restaurant downstairs could have made a better choice in drafting it before building it. My kids and I was not particularly happy with the main menu it was a small selection and we did not like any of it. Upon asking if we could order a children's menu instead letting them know we were not keen on any of the main menu. They said in the past you could but now you had to be under 12. We then asked if we were to order the chips that was on the menu if we could have a fish on its own as a side dish again, they did not accommodate this and did not do anything to assist us in being a happy customer. We could not go anywhere else as we were very tired and cold and if we did leave, we wouldn't have time to eat elsewhere as by the time we got to another restaurant kitchen would have properly been closed. So, my son only had a small bowl of chips for dinner and was very hungry afterwards and not to mention it was not a proper dinner meal and he was not satisfied at all. My younger son and I got the entre (soup) and it did not fill us up as it was an entree. We were not satisfied at all and very unhappy customers. When asking a waiter in red who had a different uniform than others if we could order our desserts, she looked agitated and frustratedly told me to ask my waiter, her attitude did not make me feel comfortable at all. She, or they, should have told me at the beginning upon arrival that I am to only order from my appointed waiter. It wasn't my fault I didn't know not to ask her for the desserts and not my fault this frustrated her. Though the outside was a stunning view I don't think my children and I will be going to that restaurant again unless they change their ways to make customers more comfortable and happier especially the main menu when even teenagers still eat children's food.

Despite the "Be Kind" stickers adorning the restaurant floor, our Easter Monday 2023 visit to the establishment was marred by a rude encounter with a senior staff named “Deb”.
Seeking shelter from the rain, we brought our dog inside to wait for assistance finding an outdoor table. Deb approached us with a dismissive and disrespectful attitude, scolding my mother for bringing in the dog and showing contempt for our dog. Her condescending demeanour towards us was compounded by gestures of disapproval towards other staff members. It is concerning to think that she may hold a position of authority.
After my mother led our dog outside, I approached Deb to apologise for our honest mistake and explained to her that it was drizzling outside and we were only waiting to be seated outside and told her there is no need to get angry. I acknowledged that under Standard 3.2.2 - Food Safety Practices and General Requirements, businesses must maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene to prevent animals from contaminating food. However, we were not near the food storage or preparation area, our dog was on a lead, and we were waiting for staff assistance in finding a safe place to dine during the rainy weather. I did acknowledge our honest mistake and I apologised.
Despite my polite apology, Deb responded with anger and continued to berate us, accusing us of being irresponsible dog owners. She then banged items on her workbench in frustration. Despite my attempts to diffuse the situation, she continued to behave rudely and inappropriately. Her behaviour was unprofessional, and her unwillingness to apologise for her rudeness left a negative impression on us.
Although I remained calm and professional, I cannot excuse Deb's rude treatment of my family and our dog. As a senior staff member in a highly regarded restaurant, her behaviour was unacceptable and not in line with the restaurant's reputation. Even Ella, who witnessed the interaction, appeared embarrassed and uncomfortable.
Deb’s stress levels may have been high due to the restaurant being extremely busy on Easter Monday, but this does not justify her insulting and yelling at us in front of other patrons.
We did have a positive experience with other staff members though, namely: Ella, Brodie, and Claudia, who provided us with absolute top-notch service and made us feel welcomed. However, Deb's behaviour certainly left a bad taste in our mouths and detracted from what would have been a fantastic dining experience.
In light of this incident, we urge the restaurant management to take appropriate action to address the situation and ensure that such behaviour is not repeated in the future. We recommend that Deb be given time off to reflect on her conduct, as it contradicts the restaurant's values and principles.
We hope that the establishment takes this matter seriously and that steps are taken to ensure that customers are treated with respect and courtesy at all times.
Kindness holds great importance especially in today’s rapidly changing world and trying times.

Karen, your account of the events is missing some crucial detail. Your mother was spoken to politely and quietly by Deb prior to you coming inside because she was standing in the middle of our restaurant with the dog whilst our customers were eating their food. As this contradicts our food hygiene laws, she was politely asked to take the dog outside. Your mother completely ignored Deb's request and tried to tell my staff it was okay for the dog to be inside because it was cold outside. Deb had to speak to her again and ask her to take the dog outside. Your mother huffed and muttered under her breath and headed towards the front door. You then came in from outside and your mother stopped again inside the restaurant and ignored the second polite request to take the dog outside. It was for the third time of asking that Deb raised her voice and correctly so as it was the only time she got a reaction and finally your mother took the dog outside. Deb was not rude, asking someone to do something that they don't want to do is not rude, ignoring a reasonable request twice is however rude. You did not offer an apology but an excuse for why the dog was inside which frustrated Deb even further, you were definitely not calm and professional and as a dog owner you should know where you are allowed to take your dog, everyone else coming here with their dog would tie it up outside and then come into the restaurant. Everyone else who makes a mistake, apologises and quickly rectifies their mistake but your group ignored and then argued. If you would like good customer service then please be a good customer and respect the local laws and respect the staff have a job to do.

On Monday we took our family from overseas up to the SkyHigh , the last time we were there was 9 years ago and didn’t pay to park our car , even though the car attendant said yesterday its been this for 22 years , we have been going there for over 40 years this is the first time we have paid for parking . Now other than that , I found it to be very rundown and graffiti on the giant chair , drains we blocked . The place just looked very un kept . Parks Victoria you need to do some work and make it looked loved again !

We made a booking for 8 pm. However, we reached the place early at 7.30 pm and we asked if we could have our dinner earlier. The waitress said she would try to let us in at 7.45 pm and asked us to wait for 15 minutes. This was so even when the restaurant was not full. Nonetheless, we went back to the car and waited for 15 minutes.
At 7.45 pm, we went back again. Instead of letting us in, she said since our booking was 8 pm, she could only let us in at 8 pm. Again, the restaurant was not full. I could not comprehend why she could not let us in especially when I had two young children aged 8 and 10.
We finally got in at 8.10 pm and the food was served at 8.40 pm. The portion was small and taste so-so. I wouldn't go back again. By the way, the view was also average. Not worth the effort.

It was an exciting experience for a group function at Skyhigh. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When booking via the phone, the event manager took time to explain the process and menu options . She was very helpful in accommodating our booking. At the entrance, the staff greeted us promptly in a very polite manner. The staff is also checking in on us during the main course to ensure our dining experience is satisfactory. The environment is very romantic with night sky and overview to Melbourne City. We have been there day and night many times for different occasions. Also, the pets are welcome to walk in the public area and the garden. Thank you for your hospitality!

I had an incredible experience, starting with a breathtaking sunset that transitioned into a stunning city skyline illuminated by night lights. To enhance the moment, we enjoyed delicious snacks, including delightful samosas, along with a choice of ice cream, tea, or coffee. This visit was truly worth it and highly recommended!

Unfortunately I can’t comment much to be fair as I hardly see anything due to heavy rain and heavy fog. Paid $8 entrance fee to go in and saw nothing quite a waste. There is a cafe there served decent local Australian cuisine and we are buoyed the beef burgers and chicken pie. I believe it would be as beautiful when comes with clear sky to have a good view of the city !
