Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrogant, rude and uncaring management left one poor lady to manage the packed shop this afternoon. It no longer matters how good your food is your lack of respect for your staff member and a shop full of would be customers means I will no longer...subsidise you. The Warnertown Bakery will be my lunch stop after 20 years calling at your shop. That means the grocer and petrol station loose out as well.More

After 35 years since we last visited but were regular callers at Crystal Brook Bakery, when living in Whyalla. A local had told us their pasties were still as good as ever and they are. Good quality ingredients, plenty of it, lovely flaky pastry. Certainly...deserves a positive revue. The short detour off Highway 1 is well worth it.More

Stopped through for coffee and morning tea. I’d eat lunch here. Traditional bakery with some well made quality items. We loved our donut and apple cinnamon bun.

Chunky steak pie lovely. Our other pie was cold. Forgot to give us 2 cakes we ordered. One staff member was horrible and rude.coffee is disgusting, sorry. The 2 tables that were available had not been cleared. The grumpy staff member clearly said out loud,...she was happy to finally see a local face. We will take our tourist money elsewhere.More

I called Crystal Brook home in the late 70's and regularly enjoyed eating Kupsch pasties. After today's visit to this excellent bakery I can say nothing has changed!

I gave this bakery another chance yesterday and sure enough the pies were cold yet again!! They dont get it. Heat them up! This was at 5 minutes to Noon and the famous CB pasties were not even ready for sale ....why? Were they trying...to sell 'yesterdays' pies first. I use to live in the Brook once and have often sung their praises to tourists....I wont be embarrassing the towns good name again and I wont be back.More

Stopped here for early lunch on way from Whyalla to Clare. Good range of pies which were enjoyed by others with me. I had a toasted sandwich made fresh and to order. Coffee was good, nice clean place to sit and eat. No toilets onsite,...there are public ones around the corner on way out of town and also ones in park on way into town. Good range of cakes and muffins also.More

It seems that no matter where you travel in Australia, every rural town of a reasonable size has a bakery. Travelling on a day trip to the mid-north of South Australia on a glorious spring day, we were passing through Crystal Brook and noticed Kupsch...Bakery. Feeling a tad hungry after an early breakfast, we decided that this was the go. Parking was very easily found out the front of the bakery – it was a Saturday morning. Welcomed by the owner, it took a few minutes to decide what to have from the wide selection of pies, pasties and sausage rolls from which to choose. Decision made – sausage roll for partner, a Bushman pie for me together with take-away flat white coffees. As the coffee was being made, I made the big mistake of looking at the pastries, slices and cakes cabinet. Hmmmm apricot slice and macaroon tarts to go. The store had another area off the service area which was set up for dine in. The décor paid tribute to both the indigenous peoples of the area and also reflected the colours of the mighty Flinders Ranges. Orders ready to go after friendly service and supplied with coffee holder and a bag for the food goodies. We had decided to eat in one the nearby areas. The sausage roll was very tasty and was rather like home-made sausage rolls that were not mass produced. The Bushman pie was a take on the Ned Kelly pie with mince meat, bacon, egg and topped with cheese. It was great and certainly tantalised the tastebuds. The pastry was firm and buttery. The coffees were very mild for our liking much preferring a stronger blend. The large macaroon tarts were moist with a shortbread pastry with the raspberry jam offsetting the sweetness of the macaroon. The apricot slice, for me, was not a punchy as an apricot slice should be with the coconut on top of the icing tending to dominate the flavour blend. Return? Most definitely especially to try some more of the appealing pie range!More

Always some nice bakery goods here. The famous pasties appear to be the same as the original pasties from Matthews Bakery (from over 50 years ago) and Mashfords Bakery (prior to Kupsch)

Hi people! Visited Kupsch's Bakery about a week ago and tried a curried sausage pie. Never had one before and being a big fan of curry I thought I would give it a try. It was absolutely incredible and full of flavour. So I went...back a second time recently and purchased a pastie and a cake. Once again I was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly on both visits, neat and tidy and well mannered and we even had a friendly chat. If your ever traveling through or passing by Crystal Brook I highly recommend that you pop in and grab a quick bite or snack. They are open from Monday to Friday from 7am-5pm, half day Saturday (7am-12pm) and are closed all day Sunday. I have provided various photos in the gallery of whats available at the store.More
