First restaurant in Laos, after having spent one month in Thailand. We've been highly disappointed...By the prices, by the food and by the staff. Our plates were big, but completely tasteless. Ordered beef and cashew nuts with rice, it was like boiled beef with some nuts and pepper on top and that's it, no flavour at all. Same for my... More

We ate both of our dinners on either end of the gibbon experience here. Very good. We had red curry, spicy chicken with basil, sweet and sour. Lots of fresh veggies and tasty sauces. Even the sandwiches and burger looked tantalizing. The atmosphere and name put us off a little bit, but we were pleasantly surprised, twice.

The bar How is a local family business, It's not too modern though but the location is nice just 200m walk from my hotel (Called Hompho). I went there alone at the night time but there's still lot of customers and well I ordered Pizza Hawaiian but it's took over 30minutes and the food are not worth for what I've... More

Great place for sitting down and chatting with a group of friends or relaxing by yourself. Food was good (especially the chicken burger if you're after a western meal) and definitely try the local Honey Whiskey!

We decided to visit Bar How for coffee and I ended up ordering Larp(sardine) which was very substantial and delicious. Good lively atmosphere and a great selection of traditional Laos food and Western. The Whiskey option must be seen to be believed. We went back for breakfast and the coffee the following day.

Nice range of infused whiskies, which were pretty tasty. Food was pretty average though and there was no sticky rice (in Laos! Weird thing to run out of...!), and the rice they did have tasted kind of old and dry. Pretty 'meh' food, but nice atmosphere. Choices are limited in this town, too, but they had a pretty big menu... Went here a couple of times while staying in Bokeo. Lovely little family run bar/restaurant on the main street, very popular with the resident tourists so it gets busy in the evenings. The food was great! Had a potato curry one evening, a burger the next (after being recommended it a number of times) and both were wonderful. Great selection... More

Decent food, quite tasty. Service was okay, although we wereconfused to be served by a girl whose age cant be over 14. Probably the best choice for dinner in houayxay.

We stayed in Houyxai for the gibbon experience so had a night either side of our tour. We walked the same street over and over to figure out where to eat. The food menu looked decent - a mix of laos and western food (though more expensive than what we had paid in Thailand)- there was some music playing and... More
