Having just come from Thailand where the food is seriously cheap it came as a shock to start paying £5 for a meal, however we stumbled upon this lovely restaurant on the Mekong banks where food is, on average, between £1-2. I went for the traditional rice dish or Larp, although didn't realise I was as it was written differently... More

Rather shocked by the bad reviews here. We had a real good time at the Riverside with of course a nice view over the Mekong, but also with absolutely great curry's. Okay, the service could be better, but it was fast and we don't actually eat service, do we? Oh, and I saw people complain about prices? For 10 euro... More

The restaurant is on a huge terrace overlooking the river which makes for a nice view. However, there are so few tables and they are so spread out that the service is challenging and the place doesn't have much atmosphere. On the other hand if you want a nice private dinner, this is your place. I had the pork soup... More

You are not spoiled for choice in Huay Xai, so this is adequate, though I suspect just as good could be had for less in a Guesthouse. Very average bathroom in 210, better in the next room i had. Simple breakfast included which was fine.

We ate twice in this restaurant, they are very slow but everywhere is like that in Laos, food was nice but a bit expensive!

Good tasted delicious, we had vegetable pad Thai and no meat spring rolls. Both things were delicious. We're not vegetarians but chose to steer clear of meat the day before a long slow boat trip to PakBeng. Massive selection on the menu though. The one waitress working (which was enough for the 5 or so customers) spoke good English and... More

Did not look that inviting for food as it was empty. They have one of the best riverview spots, ideal for a sundowner. Had fresh squeezed orange juice and it was superb

Reading previous reviews about the Riverside restaurant we were a bit sceptical about coming here as people were mentioning greasy food, as well as the fact we had gone to Bar How for lunch which was very good and wanted to return. As we were staying at the hotel though we thought we would try it for one night. The... More

We arrived in Huay Xai after an intensive day in the mountains. Arriving at the riversude Houay Xai restaurant, we were refreshed by the friendly service, providing cold Lao beer and a good choice of Thai-style food which comforted our tired body and soul in no time! Must be the best place to have dinner on the riverside in Huay... More

We had drinks here a couple of times. The view is nice and the beer was cool but that's it for good news. The place is filthy and the food dangerously dirty Staff do not care Seats hard and badly made Splinters from the tables Best avoided
