A delightful traditional pub just off the canal, which offers a wide range of food and beer. The food is basic, no-nonsense pub grub that leaves you satisfied with its hearty portions. All served in a cosy atmosphere - would definitely visit again.

3 generations needing Sunday lunch. Booked the Star, Mamihlad. Pontypool, fabulous choice. On offer on the Sunday menu Beef, Lamb and Chicken with fresh vegetables and Yorkshire puds. The beef was tender with some hot horseradish sauce, the lamb and chicken was enjoyed by family members. Pudding well it's Sunday lunch you just have to indulge don't you and here... More

We have eaten twice at the Star Inn over the last month - an evening meal and a Sunday Lunch. On both occasions the pub was busy and had a great atmosphere with people of all ages. The Star Inn is a traditional country pub a million miles away from the bland soul less chains that dominate towns and cities.... More

Just walked through the door after visiting this little gem!! We went for a lovely family meal, what can I say friendly and welcoming- nothing was too much trouble. Visited Saturday with family. Very lovely atmosphere and so welcoming. Food was delicious and prices were great. Worth mentioning the two young men who waited on us - so helpful and gave a faultless service. Will be returning, thank you.

After an energetic walk we were ready for a hot meal and a drink. My husband had the mediterranean roasted veg pie with feta cheese, I had the lamb and redcurrant pie. Both were delicious, well prepared and presented. The portions were generous. The staff were friendly and attentive. This is a true country pub with an open fire, warm... More

Our walking group made our way to The Star inn walking from Pontypool basis along the Canal. The landlady lit a lovely open fire for us as she had just opened at noon.we had great real pub food and a fantastic choice of real ales. We have visited the Star on a few occasions and will continue to do so.

We went to The Star Inn with some friends. It was our first visit and it certainly won't be our last. The food was amazing, well cooked and hot. The boy who served us was so friendly and helpful. Have already booked with family for a meal before Christmas.

Good friendly no nonsense local. Warm inviting pub with a good range of ales. Good food at reasonable prices and attentive staff. Log fire and dog friendly. All a pub should be.

WE ARE A FAMILY RUN, CHILD AND DOG FRIENDLY COUNTRY PUB. We offer choice of 4 real ales, a smooth ale, 4 lagers (2 premium) and 3 ciders on tap with a good variety of bottled ciders, soft drinks and alcohol free lager. Our food dose not claim to win prizes, but its good quality, good portion size, and freshly cooked (and it won't break the bank) so some times a small wait is inevitable but hopefully worth it. The atmosphere is warm welcoming and cosy with a wood burner one end and an open fire the other which we light when its miserable and cold outside which is most of the year. The pub is open from 12 noon every day all day, and closes around 10pm in the week, then around 12pm weekends. Sunday and Monday we serve food 12pm till-3pm ONLY (no evening meals) Every other day its 12pm till 2pm then 6pm till 8.30pm looking forward to seeing you Soon
