Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not the place to go if you are after a cheap meal but at this place at least you truly get what you pay for. The quality is high up there, the staff friendly and they allow dogs which was amazing and rare. Best coffee...I have had anywhere in Hobart so far as well. Excellent to see a place that serves a decent Matcha latte as well!More

After a long one way walk from Kingston we were looking for somewhere in Taroona to eat. This place on the old hwy was pretty satisfying. I had corn fritters served with a beetroot relish and pickled vegetable on a bed of salad. Tea was...served as tea leaf tea in a pot. Outside and inside eating. Yummy!!More

Called in for a lunch and was disappointed. Not just in the old worn chairs, tables and place, not just because it was cold - for some that would add to the charm. But the coffee was average and the food was average. No be...fair Vegan tucker is not my main fair, or vegetarian, so really the type of customer is not me - but not a lot of choice. Parking is okay and on a nice day sitting outside may be nice / not as cold as today.More

Went here for coffee with a friend yesterday. Service was fast and polite. Coffee was excellent. My friend was also delighted to find a very good wine on the menu, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We lingered at the cafe for around 2 hours, and although...we only ordered drinks, were not rushed out the door or pressured to leave/order food at all. Very appreciative of that. Highly recommended.More

Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, The Picnic Basket has a generous menu, great service, lots of local produce and a nice bright airy space. I had the apple salad which was lovely, will definitely be back and would recommend!

Great atmostphere. Always excellent, fast and polite service. Coffee is REALLY GOOD. (Quality almond milk here, very creamy taste). My coffee has never been burnt or anything other than perfect. Lunch selection of foods is healthy and also substantial, the frittata amazing, salmon and poached...eggs also amazing. They are really good at what they do and don't try to complicate it.More

I had a lovely mushroom soup, accompanied by possibly the best sourdough bread I've ever eaten. Can't wait to try another variety of soup.

We arrived here at lunchtime, queued for service and were then told they had almost no food left. The person serving us said, “Didn’t anyone tell you?” Well, no, they didn’t.

I'm fairly sure their bread comes from pigeon hole bakers, which can be purchased from their outlet in Hobart city.
